La Liga W33: El Classico
Amerr30 8 years ago Edited
Real Madrid, Bosnia-Herzegovina 56 616

So, this is what it all comes down to. It eventually, invariably, always comes down to this. The game that will, most likely, decide this seasons La Liga champion.

El Classico

As it stands right now:

La Liga Standings

Real Madrid has a 3 point lead with a game still to play.

If Real Madrid wins, that will increase to 6 points and a game left to play. This will make it very difficult for Barcelona to catch up to Real. The media and all pundits will most likely, right then and there, declare Real Madrid as the champions.

The case is very similar in a draw also, as Real will hang on to a 3 point lead with an extra game to play.

If Barcelona wants any chance to successfully defend their title, they have to win at Bernabeu - even though they couldn't achieve this at Camp Nou. If you recall, the first leg between these two ended with a 1-1, Sergio Ramos breaking the Catalan hearts. In that game, Real Madrid was the better team until Iniesta entered the proceedings. His introduction had completely changed the game, and Barcelona should have won it. However, Real Madrid have shown their resilience in that game, as they have numerous of times this season.

Even if Barcelona do win this, that is not a guarantee that they will win the league. Real Madrid will still hold the upper hand as they will be tied on points but Real will have played a game less. It will however take almost a perfect performance from the Catalans to achieve this, especially without the suspended Neymar who has been, without a doubt, their best attacking outlet recently. Although Gareth Bale remains a doubt for Real Madrid, but Isco has upstaged him recently so it does not look like Real will be missing him nearly as much as Barca will miss Neymar.

Suspensions:
Neymar (Barcelona)

Injuries:
// will be updated after both teams have played their champions league quarter final second legs. //

My prediction:

Real Madrid 3 - 1 Barcelona

A poll is provided to vote for the outcome of this match:

@Amir You mean last year? But yeah, Real and Barca player at each other ground 2 time a year or more, so they musn't feel so uncomfortable anymore at each other home. In a derby, home advantage, the player on the pitch, the level of fatigue, those thing doesn't seem as important. Its pride that matter the more (at least, it what sound the best).

Yeah, especially in a match of the caliber of the El Clasico.

It ended 4-0 because our manager at the time, Rafa Banitez, fielded a team that 'most' wanted to see. Did not take into consideration things such as balance, defensive solidarity, and etc. He just fielded the most expensive players, and that sealed his fate. It'll be a lot different this team around given that we have a manager all the players respect and love. A manager who has proven a lot more pragmatic that most expected, especially with his willingness to put a protector like Casemiro before players such as James and Isco.

We don't have Varane, the Messi-inhibitor, so we'll see what happens. Nacho has shown his quality this season though, and I hope he performs this game.

Without Neymar however, I imagine Barca attack will be quite handicapped. I see nothing other than a Real win, but you never know.

ONLY 14 MINS TO GO!!!

WHOOO HOOOO :D :D

Ronaldo is so dangerous, almost scored.

Suarez and his begfing for fouls is ridiculous

Messi did a magic.

How, Marcelo still ON the feild after that elbow is beyond me.

Ramos seems offside, not clear though.

WHAT A GAME.... great football in general

Suarez so dirty..

First hits Navas, then raises hands as if he didn't do anything. Real had a penalty not called but not one player swarmed the ref, yet on every call they swarm him. It's so pathetic

No red card for Casemiro ? No surprise.

Amer the hypocrit, how did Umtiti got a yellow ? they went all on him...

Caseimiro should have seen red, Ramos was offside.

warning no personal attack plz. 1 more time will be a ban

@Amer: the last one was a 3 consicutive fouls from Casemiro. I could understNd why they want a card.

Real has so much "cold fouls". Man, the f-cking elbow of Marcelo should have been red. Really, so Madrid shouldt cry

But Suarez, and Busquet constant begging is indeed so annoying and disgusting.

@Amerr30 Barcelona players always smell the face of the ref like puppies, every game they are all over him after every whistle peer pressure :D
