Despite liking this one so much, I dont think it's that superior. Legendary for sure, but current Barca can be on par with them or even better

Henry - Suarez/Drogba - Ronaldo? Ain't nobody gonna stopping that attack. On the other side, defence need a bit more pace IMO..

Vidic was decently fast in his prime.

Also, if anyone thinks that current Barca could beat this, I don't know what to say to you, because I don't see that happening.

Against Terry and Vidic in prime ? I think Barca attacking players would choke . I think many of you remember these players in their prime . And they are hard very hard defenders . A Cole in his prime was holding out anyone . I remember even in his 30s during final against Bayern , they would attack from our weak side because Cashley cole was still hard to break . Then you have Gary Nevile , man he is one of the greatest right backs I have ever seen . Hated him as a player playing for United but he was just amazing right back .

Veira , Lampard and Scholes would absolutely rule the midfield . Viera huge technical guy and Scholes precision would cancel out Barca's Rakitic and Co . Then Lampard box to box , very hard working midfielder who can score goals and make amazing assists .

Fast Ronaldo and Henry will give so many problems to Alves and Alba . Henry and Ronaldo are unpredictable players who can take on players or make a shot .

Then you have Drogba . Drogba huge guy who has amazing technical skill for big player and his presence in center will be just pure enjoyment for Henry and Ronaldo . I was going to put Henry as CF but I think he always been very hard working player who can play as LF , WL . Thiery Henry is one of the greatest strikers I have ever seen . I still can't forget his pass to himself against Liverpool and then scoring solo goal ... also goal vs united with a flick , turn and shoot , was left speechless .

I believe current Barcelona would have no chance against these guys in their prime .

Idk but I can't think of scenario where current Barca or even their prime would come on top against these guys . Unless someone gets red card , but even against 10 men they will very hard to break .

And I don't think Messi scoring against Cech )))

Current Barca squad can take this team on? No way. This team would definitely beat the current Barca team any day.

Remember that this Ronaldo was the United Ronaldo - the unpredictable dribbler with massive amounts of confidence and speed. Henry in his prime would rip Barca to shreds, and Drogba's physicality would be impossible for the Barca defense to deal with. I'd also take Lampard/Vieira/Scholes over the current Barca midfield any day, and that defensive lineup is just about as good as defenses got in the 21st century (only excluding the Italian defenders + Puyol and Ramos). And we can't forget Messi's misfortune against Petr Cech lool.

I'd like to point out that this Barca team's only true strength is their abnormally talented forwards. In both midfield and defense they are weaker than both Madrid and Bayern (although Madrid's defenders never tend to shine all at once, and Bayern plays too much of a high line), and Juventus gave their forwards a run for their money as well. Barca's treble was helped by heavily injured/suspended Madrid, Bayern, and PSG squads. I think they would've beat PSG over two legs anyways, but their crushing of a weakened PSG gave them a lot of confidence, which wouldn't have occurred if PSG was able to play their full team.

Madrid would have won the league if Modric didn't miss 70% of the season and James didn't break his foot. Bayern would have also likely been able to be on level terms with Barca if they had Alaba, Ribery, Robben, etc. The only trophy Barca would have ideally won last season if all their competitors stayed fit like their squad is the Copa del Rey, where Madrid was knocked out by Atletico and Barca were the favorites from the quarter-finals and onwards.

Don't overestimate 2014/15 Barcelona just because they won the treble. Madrid in 13/14, Bayern in 12/13, and United in 07/08 were all better than this Barca. And of course, Barca from 08-11 should have been able to beat this current Barca easily.

@Dyn & @Sun: Your reasoning make perfect sense to me and I agree with most of it.

What I want to point out is that, I agree current Barca's without Xavi and Pyoul (and Iniesta at top level) will not be able to beat this team. I forgot that. Still out of 5 games I would say 2 - 3

Last year, it is true they were very lucky most their major opponents had their key players absented. But, if we look at it, having injury is related to having a bad day, anyteam can and you gotta prepare your peak points for important matches. That seemed-to-be-weaker Barca defeated all the champions around Europe. Weather those elites were on top of their form or not is irrelevant. We can say that for any team at any given time. With that being said, I admit the current Barca can't beat this legend team, if Messi is off form... Barca would not be anywhere near they were.

While we are on the topic, this selected team resembles SO MUCH like the regular INCREDIBLY-GOOD-ON-PAPER England. Highly unlikely to click and win much. Make no mistake, I have always been England and EPL fan in every way. Okay, I admit, they have the old Ronaldo (which I much prefer) and Henry, that might change a lot, True!

Anyway, this team is legendary and can beat the **** out of most opponents, just that I doubt their superior like they claim

I completely agree with Marcus and Dynastian +1. Although my biases lend me to pick Schmeichel, Cantona and Van Nistelrooy over Cech, Lampard and Drogba, this team is otherwise full-proof against Barca.

dynastian have Put it nicely . There was some fortune on Barcelonas side and if had to compare current Barcelona with the one from 04-07 or with 09 - 12, I think the fall short .

There are so many great choices for Center Forward . Van Nisterloy in fact was also on my mind . However, I think what my team needed was Drogba. Striker who is literrally impossible to be isolated . He can be there by himself every match and hold the ball to bring the others into the attack or he can just take it start the attacks himself .

I was trying to build strong defensively and very fast on the counter attack team . So Drogba just fits my team as center forward so much better than Luis Suarez or Rooney or Van Nisterloy .

Reason why England never played well is because of our idiot managers who did not know how to manage such abundance of talent . WE HAVE COMPLETELY WASTED GOLDEN YEARS OF TALENT . Gerrard and Lampard could have been Xavi and Iniesta of Spain if we had some descent defensive midfielder to play right behind them to control the game . Scholes was great but his tackling is such so awful !

So it had to be either , Scholes and Lampard , or Gerrard and Lampard , or Scholes and Gerrard but never all three of them on the field .

and the last thing there were too many egos who just could not play together and did not have anyone to pair them good.

Therefore I would probably change my formation to 4-3-3

With Viera as CDM , SCholes as holding CM and Lampard going forward.

A lot of people also underestimate Drogba because his goal-scoring record is not as impressive as, say, RVN's or Henry's or Shearer's. I'd like to remind everyone that Lampard was always Chelsea's penalty taker. If Drogba was the penalty taker instead, he'd have 5-6 goals added to his tally each season.
