No but its actually about wilshere and Verratti, do not go off topic for the good of the forum... ( damn its easy to be you)

Wilshere imo is overrated, had a decent season last year but was inconsistent, too inconsistent to get compared to verratti who has some negative points, but very consistent. The consistence is crucial to win trophies...
2 out of forms in a year and the trophy is lost, consistence is essential in competitive leagues.

...and then someone included Isco, and then Isco vs Messi.

This is called a conversation.

[Edit: oh look, you changed your post]

Anyhow, @shpalman: I'm interested in what you meant by that statement. Please share your perspective, if you'd care to. :)

Wilshere was injured for 1 year and a half. He came back in the 2012/2013 season around november and was instantly our best and most influential player. And then he got injured again. I remember around january/february, all we talked about on the arsenal subreddit was how much we loved jack. Ever since his big injury at 19, the longest he's been fit is about 4 months, when he came back. He's been super unlucky with injuries and if he can stay fit for a season, and build up his form, I'm sure he'll justify the hype. And I think the hype is pretty much over, as it's been "cool" for over a season now to talk about Wilshere as overrated. He's definitely in the same court as Verrati in terms of talent, and they both had very similar trajectories, getting a very important role in a big CL club at a very young age. And before his big injuries in 2011, he was used a lot like Verrati is right now. Imo, they are very very similar players. The way Verrati can get out of very tight spaces reminds me a lot of Wilshere.

Arsenal players are ruined by injuries, i havent seen him playing that much ( Wilshere ), i find him a way slow but i noticed he was very tecnical, Wenger say about him that he has Spanish skills and an English heart...
Im also concerned by off pitch players and he seems to have a busy nightlife, not very helpful for progression, imay be wrong he could turn into a monster if he has the motivation to do so.
What the hell is the reason for all those frequent injuries ? there must be a reason...

@tiki he is an arsenal fan and he seems to be very dedicated both on the pitch and in training. The nightlife stuff is just english media, they love to create scandals where there is none. Like when a picture of him smoking a cigarette was going around. I've never heard of actual off the pitch problems except this story told that apparently he insulted a taxicab driver when he was drunk. Then again, he's no bendtner. And we don't know if the story is 100% true.

About injuries a theory is that wenger overused him when he was too young, during his breakthrough season in 2010/11 when he played 49 games at just 18, and that it messed him up. Another theory is that he's just made of glass. It's probably a mix of these two and just bad luck. I don't think this problem will last forever, he'll eventually get rid of that issue and become a really great midfielder.

I saw this cigarete picture and i heard about the taxi cab story, yes it has affected my judgement on the player.
I will give an attention at England 3 games, to value the current squad and see if there is any winner mentality on it, i hope he got called to make an opinion about him in a high level...

Did you see him play vs Ecuador? His positioning throughout the game was very poor. He continuously let his player go. That's the reason Scholes said after the match that England should play Welbeck against England to mark Pirlo. They are similar in terms of talent but Verratti is much more disciplined.

@tiki if there is one arsenal who really puts his heart out on the field, it's wilshere. I think he has that winning mentality. I'd say the thing he should work on is knowing when to release the ball. He doesn't have the best decision making and it's the main thing he needs to improve on his game. Which is a shame because his vision and composure which were outstanding for a teenager were exactly what made him break through arsenal's starting 11 during the 10/11 season.

@Lodatz

haha i know that sounds mad, but i'd prefer watching Isco play if i had to choose between the two.
he's more skilled, plain and simple. less linear than Messi, a very raw diamond. his football is more variegated, and he's not in his prime still. Messi achieved amazing things in his career, scored crapload of goals, made records. in this football era people sees numbers and you become a legend. but if you look at it on the pitch, Messi's skillset is very defined. 3-4 individual skills made him what he's today, and i think he was even formed that way, appositely. amazingly fast pace combined to an excellent dribbling and finishing ability. this is Messi. you rarely will see different stuff from him. but those 3 things combined have made him an amazingly prolific footballing machine. he's so systematic that he doesn't look like a natural to me, at times.

edit:
it's funny, 2 weeks ago i wrote this here in this thread "a serie B team which won the league under the guidance of Zeman" and 3 days ago Verratti publicly thanked Zeman, there were articles in sport newspapers left and right.

verratti >>>>

wilshere needs game time to get back to his best. He now plays with so much panic and haste, that's why he commits so many fouls. he is itching to get back to his best and prove himself.

Verrati >>>> will any day.

I feel there is no english player that is really on the top top level.
The kind of star player like schools Beckham the last one for me is Rooney.

Rooney was the last truly great English player. Gareth Bale might be the next British legend though - he's absolutely phenomenal.

Bale is a legend already from a LB to the best winger in the world is crazy to me
