1999 Bayern - United at Camp Nou.
The best match I've seen in my life is the 2008 United Chelsea UCL Final.

Its the most intense derby in the world.

and the best derby in the world.

El Clasico lost its edge because the crowds are shit now.

I think since Rangers went into administration, the derby's lost a bit of meaning. ;p

@Boixosnois1981

How can you say that? El Clasico is the most covered game in the world besides the World Cup final. Even the attendance for the EURO Cup final is just about level with El Clasico. And do crowds really define the best rivalry? The reason the crowds at El Clasicos are shit is because of the political rivalry between Spain (Spain's capital city is Real Madrid) and Catalonia (Catalonia's capital city is Barcelona). That's why the crowds don't like each other. And yet I wouldn't call the crowds shit because it's not the crowds that do anything. All that happens is that Pepe gets whistled by Barcelona fans whenever he touches the ball (it's okay since they have a reason to whistle him). And remember Ronaldinho? He received a standing ovation at the Bernabeu after his amazing double against Real.

In my opinion, the best rivalries are El Clasico and Chelsea - Barcelona. Chelsea - Barcelona always end up with something intense happening in it (2008 injustice, Terry red card, Ramires sublime goal, Iniesta's amazing shot, Torres actually scoring a goal). And the last 12 El Clasicos have had goals scored by both sides, so it's extremely entertaining, even for non-La Liga fans.

i agree with you, its very entertaining on field, it used to be COMPLETE when the crowds had some serious passion in the stands. The match has become a tourist attraction..the feeling is gone.. where did the in your face passion go?

ever since the middle of the new millenium, advanced technology , and the demise of both clubs ultra's groups (thanks alot Laporta) have given boring tourists with there camera's and foreign flags the opportunity to flock the stadium and kill the atmosphere... i dont have a problem with video recording or foreigners.. but atleast try to contribute to the atmosphere and the event instead of sitting on your ass and just recording instead of chanting, taunting madrid, jumping.. like the old days.

the Clasico is compete on the field.. but its missing half of what made it complete.

I would want to be one of the 4,000 to attend the first ever official international match (and first official match of any real kind) between Scotland and England at the Hamilton Crescent ground of Glasgow on 30th of November 1872.

That way, I can say I was part of the birth of football.
