so as we know we have panic bought welbeck as a backup for Giroud as he is injured till January. How do you think he'll do? United fans tell me if he's good cos I've watched him a couple of times he was best player for united against Real madrid in the 2012-13 ucl game and he was a threat vs bayern munich last season as he caused problems for Dante and Boateng but Neuer catched his chip. The thing he's missing is composure to shoot and he needs to improve his shooting. Also his first touch is dreadful. I think he will adapt well since he knows the BPL well and he will have a easy time adjusting with English players such as Wilshere,Gibbs,Chambers,Walcott,Chamberlain he wont find it hard to communicate. He was wasted at united on the bench as RVP And Rooney started ahead of him. A good target for him would be to get atleast 15 goals this season with Ozil,Cazorla,Sanchez,Wilshere,Ramsey,Walcoot ( coming back soon ) alll being to provide balls to him.

You never know what welbeck can mature into. remember how Henry and bergkamp weren't even worth shite but moulded into the world's finest. ^ it's because many people just look at welbeck's goal scoring record and they ignorantly just say he's crap. I've watched him many times at united and thought he's a great player being wasted under RVP and Roo's shadow . We have saved his career as he's now going into his prime and with the quality of our midfield he'll excel. Don't forget welbeck's been playing out of position on the wings at united so that may have stunted his performances.

First, I want to say that the transfer window was total failure, because we didn't get CDM nor CB. I guess you could put Chambers to 3rd choice CB and that way Bellerin MUST be ready already now to be 2nd choice RB. But CDM? NO excuse, I don't actually have much belief in big games anymore, I know Arsenal will lost almost all of the big games without proper CDM, as happened last season. Hopefully we'll buy CDM in January, it's a must.

Anyways to the point. IMO Welbeck is exactly what we need. I already liked the guy before he signed. He has all the attributes to be the next Thierry Henry. Forget the past .. everybody knows he hasn't started every game with RvP & Rooney and he has played 80% the time on the wing. But there is few things that Wenger MUST do, if they want to get 100% of him..

1) Play him as a ST. Don't waste him at wing
2) He must play REGULARLY to get his confidence to the level that goalscorers need.
3) His finishing isn't still in a level that it could be, so I'd do what Zlatan did. After trainings stay and score atleast 50 goals with a trainer + goalkeeper.

He has unbelievable pace and strength, brilliant teamplayer, and a great person. I hope he'll have succesful career here. Fans must get behind him right from the start.

@quikzyyy @decentk I agree that we didn't sign the CDM we've badly needed since gilberto, but you guys forget that we signed 5 players, one of them is alexis, a star signing. Chambers seems to be the real deal, Ospina is a good replacement for fabiansky, debuchy is an improvement on Sagna, and when Giroud gets injured and every arsenal fan in the world cries for a striker, wenger signs welbeck. I think it was a good window, if we had signed Carvalho it would have been perfect. Quikzyyy you probably wanted falcao, we can't afford him, we can't afford cavani either and he wasn't for sale anyways. Who were the next best strikers who were available, Bony maybe, and Welbeck who is very experienced at the top level in england, is an english international, has a very very different profile from Giroud, and he is only 23. We got him very cheap as well.

I think arsenal fans are overreacting about the window because the welbeck signing was underwhelming. But if we had signed welbeck in july and signed alexis on deadline day, people would have gone crazy. I would give the window a B-, because we badly need that CDM. I hope wenger does something about it in january, maybe carvalho will still be available, and let's hope Arteta somehow gets back to his best form until then.

Wenger's tactics are outdated and dont work anymore so we should get a manager that actually listens to its fans for once.

I don't like much Cavani style of play, but maybe it's because he's in Ibrahimovic shadow at PSG. And Arsenal would be able to afford any player, if Usmanov buy % of Kroenke. A lot of players want big salaries, but at least we don't have players who plays only for money, so it's kinda +. Wonder what we will do this season, I was positive after signing Debuchy/Sanchez/Ospina/Chambers but still we miss CDM, and Ozil miss form so badly. And maybe we will need another CB, Mertesacker seems like out of fuel so far.
