@rama is Beckham a legend? NO infact he is the most overrated footballer of all time, overrated by the ENGLISH MEDIA. I never thought scoring from halfway line make a legend thanks rama..

Does being Real Madrid player of the year and both UEFA Player of the year and Midfielder of the year overrated(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Beckham)? I see no English Media being part of that. No, he's rated how he's rated. He's known for being the best crosser of the ball in world, and being one the best freekick takers in the world. Being able to pick out passes and he can also play a bit as well, no doubt about that. What people have to remember is, this guy is something like 37 now, how many other top players are still playing and producing results at that age? Not many.

And remember, at a time where Real Madrid had Ronaldo(the legend), Zidane, Raul, Roberto Carlos and much more don't you think passing all of those players to get to RM Player of the Year is big?

Btw, scoring halfway isn't common. I believe he scored that halfway goal under the age of 20, making it even more surprising at that time.

Beckham is one of the finest footballers England have ever produced. His workrate, his determination, his crossing, his long-range passing, his free kicks and his sheer ability to lead and inspire a team are deserving of the title: Legend.

maybe im little bit harsh calling him not a legend but for sure he is overrated. george best and maradona will agree with me. aside from being good crosser and setpiece specialist he is nothing.

No one seems to take notice of goalkeepers when they're on the middle of the field. Too risky and managers might get angry if your not winning or even worse, losing. No offense, I see you being denial. Just look at my previous post about the awards he got. Maradona is a legend but an idiot. Always criticizing players and putting Argentinian players on top last time I checked. I'm sure if I figure out how to find old articles I'll show more football players calling Beckham one of the worlds greatest.

To be fair, I don't think anyone even in Argentina listens to what Maradona says. :p

Still doesn't matter. The fact they still had Zidane, Ronaldo(fat), Roberto, Casillas, and much more. You also ignored UEFA Footballer of the year and UEFA Midfielder of the year. His professional career is over but the last time I checked, no one plays as good as he does at the age of 37.

@PuppetMaster: I really don't agree, man. I think Beckham is hugely underrated, in fact. His pin-point passes and crosses from half the pitch away were as breathtaking as any piece of RVP skill, he had a Big Game mentality, he would charge up and down that flank to the tune of an average of 10 miles every game. He had vision, leadership and a real lion's heart.

I think that just because he didn't have the silky skill of a Zidane, or the raw goalscoring gifts of a Ronaldo, he's forgotten about. But I take Beckenbauer's opinion seriously, because I think Franz (and Charlton, who said similar) recognizes one of his own.

Ok im gonna give up this debate i dont think can win it tbh. we have different taste/opinion and i think he is overrated and you guys think he is not. so i give up i surrender im throwing/waving a white flag
