FootyRoom members, what is the best CB partnership of the EPL in your opinion?

The reason for this silly question is because of my argument with Footaholic about whether Cahill - Terry or Koscielny - Mertesacker is the best CB partnership in the EPL.

Mine is obviously Cahill - Terry, so what's yours?

@KingHenry: Same goes for us Chelsea fans. If we even dared to bring up Cahill, who used to be so inconsistent last season, or Terry, who was usually on the bench, we'd be mocked and called bias. But after Mourinho came back, Cahill has become one of the best CBs in Europe as he keeps performing outstandingly game after game.

Just look at his performance in our 1-0 win against City.

Amazing, old school defending, right? Doing whatever it takes to keep the ball away from our goal and into the opponent's. The awesome thing is, he does this every game!

Terry basically is the same. He's having one of his best seasons in a while, and is a really influential player on the pitch. Him and Cahill are perfect for each other. One has a brilliant footballing mind and no-nonsense style of defending while the other's the epitome of a defender in his prime, with speed, strength, decent passing, heading and bravery.

Here's a good video showing Gary Cahill's first half of this season:

I just can't get enough of his style of defending. It's really admirable.

Cahill doesn't seem all that impressive to me. He's a decent defender, but not 'world-class'. Pepe looks like a better defender than him.

But Terry is a fantastic defender. I like John Terry's game a lot.

I agree about the John Terry part. He really is a fantastic player and is still going strong at the age of 33. Cahill not being 'world-class', now that I don't agree with. He's saved us countless times this season, more than any other of our defenders, but just below Cech. I don't see why people don't recognize him yet. Maybe because he hasn't done much until this season, but the same thing happened with Thiago Silva y'know. Come World Cup 2014, he (and Azpi) will show the world their talents.

By the way, did you see the interview where Mourinho calls Varane the best defender in the world? I found it to be amusing yet very interesting, seeing as how Varane still has a lot of years left until he reaches his prime. Oh man... If we could sign him and play him next to Zouma in the future... Oh man... That would be glorious.
