FIFA declares South Africa-Spain

FIFA has declared the South Africa-Spain (1-0) match invalid for the purposes of ranking due to the Spanish team making one more change than allowed.
The match result will not count towards the FIFA world rankings.
The Spanish national side exceeded the six agreed substitutions by sending Pepe Reina on in the second half to replace the injured Víctor Valdés, and thereby avoid the situation of a field player having to cover the goalkeeper's position.

The change led to a showdown between South Africa's national team coach, Gordon Igesund, and several members of the Spanish team. After the game, Igesund explained that he had not been opposed to the substitution being made, but that he felt it was a matter for the referee to decide on rather than him.
Bafana could earn up to 500 points for a win against Spain should Fifa confirm that their famous 1-0 victory will be considered.

Just finished watching the a replay of the match and I just had to comment in this thread about how unfair this is. It seemed like South Africa's coach was complaining, a lot, about the decision made by the FIFA delegate. During the debate he was furious about the fact that Spain would be allowed one more sub. Probably he knew this wasnt going to end well... This shouldn't happen.... now you know if your team is losing a friendly by a big goal difference, just convince the delegate to let you get another sub...

Wow, this makes the suspicion level between Spain and FIFA elevate to high degrees.
