Jermain Defoe - 14 goals, 38 apps (37%)

Well guys? Torres has outscored all these fantastic strikers, although most of their goals-per-game ratio is better than Torres'. Is Torres improving? Or are the other strikers having just bad luck?

And you guys can kinda take Rooney out of the equation since he's been playing a more withdrawn role than he used to, and is more of a central midfielder now than a forward.

But that is what a poacher does. Isn't almost half of Chicharito's goals tap ins? But why do you still respect him? Because that's his job, and his talent, and he does it well. Just like that, Torres' job is as a poacher. His goals are tap ins because his team mates are so good, they can give him the ball at the last second so that he can tap it in the back of the net.

And don't forget, Torres came third place to the Ballon d'Or once, only behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. That's a position Andres Iniesta has been occupying lately.

I think whenever people speak of goal scoring records to additional stats are needed to give the full picture:
#1- Distribution of the goals. For example, Olivier Giroud has a pretty healthy goal return for his first years but many of them are in clusters. Therefore, as @Dynsastian mentions the goals-per-game ratio is key.
#2- How many of those goals were point-winning goals. In other words, certain strikers may have a good soring rate the surface but their goals may come when the game has already been won. The importance of strikers like RVP & Bale for example, is that their goals are the game changing ones.

I don't have the above 2 stats for Torres but my gut tells me they wouldn't be that great and THAT is why it gives a clearer picture of why his tally is deceptively good.

NOTE all the players who have scored less have LESS games 

Oh yea, also forgot the shots per goal (aka conversion ratio) stat which also tells a lot. Some strikers get a lot more opportunities (because of the team they play on) than others so that helps to identify how clinical they are. 

( 20-30 games more than other strikers )  do u think he is worth 50 millions ? Like chicharito,Džeko,Cisse,Ba,Giroud all together ?

If you let Rooney play 22 more games as the main striker, I'm sure he'd score more than 3 goals

Guys, guys. My question was, is Torres IMPROVING. He scored what, 11 goals last season? This season he has 19. Although Footaholic pointed out that Torres has an awful conversion rate and goals-per-game ratio, is he better than before (not Atletico/Liverpool era. I mean the Chelsea era in his career)?

Being a Chelsea fan i will say that he is still not a 50M Torres which we buy from Liverpool. he should score 60%+ of goals/match percentage this season.
Juan mata is  key player for Chelsea this season and player far better than Nando

no way 37% is not better than 57% so Torres is not better than Rooney or whoever he mentioned in the highlights

footaholic, chelsea are still in Europa League because of torres only. **Steaua Bucuresti won their home game 1-0. In the second leg, Chelsea were 2-1 up, but they still needed a goal to comfortably
qualify to next round, Torres scored the goal to make it 3-1. Yesterday also, he scored the opener, which I think is opposite of 
how you described his abilities.
Infact, Chelsea are also in FA Cup because of Torres. On 27/01/2013, Brentford were 2-1 up when Torres scored to draw the
match 2-2 and earn a crucial re-play for the team which they later won 4-0. He scored in the 90th minute to get that re-play

if he was 20 million then it was okay,but 50 million?oh well...but still he is usually crap in every game,but the fact is that he scored 19 goals this season but look at the apps,it is still well quite average I think but not for a 50 million striker.But still i expect him to be his usual (crappy form) back.And his europa league form is not bad really.
