So, there it is, Ajax vs United. The young ones vs the pragmatic one. Its hard to say for sure who will win this final and I think its fair to say both team could be seen as favorite to certain extend or as underdog. For United, this victory mean a return to the CL and at last, something for their fan to look foward to. For Ajax, it mean they will directly be in the group stage in next season CL and won't have to risk being eliminated in the play-off like they did last year against Rostov. So, wich one do you think will win it all?

Ajax. The team that bottled last season's title at the last day. I hope they have come a long way from that. Bosz has been good for them, but they can be inconsistent. Good home form, bad away form. Kinda the opposite with United. Great young players too. I can see United defense getting ripped apart when Jones and Smalling are playing.

If Ajax do win, then the Netherlands might have a better chance to get to the world cup. The nation will be pumped, and they will get to the world cup. I'm not sure of Advocaat, but I hope he surprises. Also, the Ajax Champions League winning side consisted of young players. Ajax now consist of young players. I am truly happy seeing them and not Schalke and Lyon, they deserve it more and are a better team.

@Sunflash Agreed mate, thats really how that game feel, but the same could be said about Ajax who failed to win anything worthy of mention this year. Both team will give it everything they can no doubt. :S

Yeah, I agree with a lot of you's. I think the United hype is becoming a little overwhelming to the extent that a huge upset is just around the corner.

I'd like to think we'll win, but let's not just get too ahead of ourselves when we could hardly beat Celta Vigo in the semis....

Hell we barely beat Anderlecht.

@Sunflash To be fair, Anderlecht and Celta Vigo are decent side on a good day. So is Ajax sadly for United. At another point in time, it propably wouldn't have possible to lose for United against Ajax but today, I feel like in a single game, anything could happen. :(

On another note, Ajax and Celta played each other in the europa group phase. The first game was a 2-2 draw, the second was a 3-2 win for Ajax... Hope this doesn't mean it will be a tougher.

Not having Bailly and Ibra really hurts. Valencia will go crazy on the wing but he has to watch for a young side that has pace and can go at you.

United need to score early and try to possess the ball. Sadly, they are very thin-skinned and get knocked off easy nowadays so they really need to be smart with the ball. Our lineup is strong enough to get the job done. Now it is up to the players themselves.

Ajax-Lyon games were not played too tactically. It was all an attacking game together with the counter attacks. But this game will not be played like that. Therefore with experience, I expect United to win at the end of the day. 2-1

By the way, if United wins it, there will be 5 English teams in CL next year. But if Ajax wins, Eredivisie will still have 2 teams in UCL. Only difference is that Ajax gonna start at the Group Stage instead of Qualifications. And the vacancy at the Ajax' Qualification place will be filled by some other Domestic League team.
Priority for the UEFA Champions League will be given to the winners of the domestic championship (in accordance with the entry stage as per the access list). The adjusted list will be announced when decided by UEFA.

If I had to predict I'd say United simply because of the player quality they have. The difference is quite big. Ajax has been impressive though, them winning wouldn't be a surprise either.

It's brilliant to have Ajax back on the big stage, it was time that a team from the Netherlands returns to the elite of football. It would be a great story and I'd prefer if they won. On the other hand though, I'd love to see Manchester United in the UCL, so I will be happy with either result if it's a good game.

On a side note, I would really prefer UEFA giving more UCL spots to Europa League teams. The two finalists should get automatic access to the group stage and the two semi-finalists should get entry to the last UCL playoff round. This would give the teams something to play for and it would take this competition to the glory and recognition it deserves.

Ajax' starting 11 has an average age of 22,77. Can you believe that !? It's 22. In a European Final. Amazing.

Ajax had no clue how to get past uniteds defense. Really poor performance from them and united did well yo put away the few chances they had. All in all, a really lackluster final.
They youth really bit them in the rear. No experience to lead them against a tactically solid team.

Literally the worst possible treble possible, but that doesn't really matter. The season is over, and with the CL qualification we've put ourselves in a position to succeed next season. That's what really matters, I suppose.

@Raimondo90 Indeed, its almost seem like they went in trying to play their game instead of making a game plan to beat United. I'm happy for United but I can't say that it was an incredibly hard victory for them as. That game was easier than those against Celta imo. :( Still, happy for my united friend and still saw some good thing from Ajax. Too bad is wasn't enough at all though. :(
