Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has signed with Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua on a two-and-a-half year deal.

The 34-year-old is expected to earn around £200,000 per week at his new club.

He said: 'Today I can inform you that I have signed with Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua for a two and a half year deal. I will fly out to join up with the squad in July.

Didier had big offers from top European clubs including Real Madrid & Juventus, but decided to join Shanghai Shenhua instead.

His first match for Shanghai will be against Manchester United on July 25th when United will meet Shanghai in a friendly match.

I think it was the right move for him, he won big trophies now it's time to sattle down, earn some big $$$ and retire. Why ruin your "big player" status and join Real Madrid on the bench.
