Well, so much for this happening without any incident. The River Plate fans who did that should really be ashamed of themselve, no place for this in sport or anywhere else.

pfff... is it that hard to enjoy a game peacefully smh
Unprofessional behavior from the hosting country, players bus was always going to be assaulted. They should have anticipated it.
@tiki_taka: the hosting country is the home country of the two teams :)
@tiki They did give the bus an escort, hoping it would be enough to protect it from the fan... Guess they got proven wrong. :(
@quikzyyy Thats for the best, hope they will find time to rescedule the game before the Club World Cup though.
Scheduled for December 8th. This has been pretty shameful. Stupid fans always find ways to ruin everything.
Just a reminder Boca and River faced each other in a semi final about two years ago and Boca was disqualified because a fan pepper sprayed a few river players. Conmebol really likes one more than the other. At least River was decent enough to back Boca in deciding to postpone.
@Raimondo Thanks for the share mate. And yeah, its great River backed Boca, thats really the least they could do though considering it was their causing the problem.
That’s too late, I get Boca need all the help they can get right now, but there’s a club World Cup literally a few days later, how will the winner of this prepare for that tournament.
That's it, the final is ruined for good..
All the hype for one of the most anticipated events of the century in the continent is all gone now.
The 3rd game is set to be played at a Neutral ground either December 8th or 9th.
Massively disappointing tbh.. and just gutted to see this epic final turn out this way.
I might be a bit biased but.. Aren't Boca players and staff overreacting a bit?
Throwing rocks at the bus is something that happens every other Sunday in Argentina, and should always be frowned upon, but it not something that is completely out of the ordinary. And what exactly happened with the pepper spray? Did a pepper spray tank/grenade get into the bus or were the players only affected secondarily by the pepper spray thrown at the mob outside the bus?
Shame on Boca for wanting to get the win out of this mess...
Completely different from what happened in 2015 if you asked me, but well.. they'll try to take anything they can from this incident.
Anyways... thought?
Im just sad. The final that we all wanted to see is not longer going to happen.
@Tuanis, River did the exact same thing against Boca and got then disqualified after just a single half was played. Of course Boca will attempt to do everything they can to get even.
On the first leg there wasn't a single incident (aside from just rain) that prevented the match from being played.
The fact that violance is "normal" in Argentina does not justify this nor make it okay. Conmebol needs to make a statement and it's either this is perfectly ok, go ahead and injure your opponents captain and force them to play or any violance from fans will result in your team being disqualified.
Supposedly we are waiting for a Conmebol disciplinary committee to see what happens.
@Tuanis We are in agreement on one point, it certainly feel like a lot of the initial hype got ruined by what happened. Hope they do play the final though
@raimondo Agreed, there is a need to punish River, still hope they don't give Boca the victory by default. After all, Boca got to play at home, River will propably not have this advantage no matter what. Feel like this would be fair enough as far as punishement goes, especially considering the responsible aren't River but a minority of their fan.
But the incidents that happened last week and in 2015 are completely different.
River can not control every single individual that claims to be a fan and those these reproachable acts.
If the incident happened say, in the stadium, then River would be held accountable because they are the ones that have to make sure the stadium is an area free of that vandalism and safe for hosting a game. But out there in the streets this actions happen very often, like I said you can not make the club accountable for every idiot that puts on a shirt.
Now, I as again.. Did the River fans manage to get pepper spray into the bus or was the pepper spray incident in question a residue of the one being thrown by the police to control the mob?
The police is not hired by any club, and if security outside the stadium fails, Clubs can't be held accountable. The police did a terrible Job containing the mob, if that exact same thing happened in the previous leg then Boca fans would have eaten the bus alive as well.
Shameful acts we've seen, but nothing that hasn't happened both ways for the past decade.
Shameful as well that Boca are looking to get the victory without paying tbh..
plz
Then they should have invested on solid buses, or deny River plate fans from the road for few minutes or make the entry to the stadium unnoticed by getting 2 buses. This is a problem of organisation, the heat of the game needed extreme measures...
This is gonna hurt Argentina World Cup bid massively, security is key to host a WC.
@quikzyyy Oh? So the game will be held in the Bernabeu? Thats actually very cool! Wonder if there will be restriction for the fan cause I'm pretty sure there would be a lots of them ready to take the plane to go support their team.
gonna be madness if it happens, but spanish police can be pretty harsh, so the team which will lose, good luck.
1 word can describe the event.
Disappointment

Dissapointment
certainly lived up to the hype!
It really did, such a good game that was.
Is anyone else absolutely hyped for this match?
Tomorrow, Saturday 10th, is the first leg of the Libertadores final between Boca Jrs. and River Plate.
I live in America so we have this match very present and people here see this particular final as the biggest match of the year in club football. Not even the CL draws so much attention now that we hace the Argentinian Clasico in a continental final.
I just have no clue if outside the continent, this South-American football or at least the greatest final in history of the tournament is relevant at all. I would love to know if anyone in Europe or Asia is aware of this as a football fan and if there is actual hype for the game. I know the tournament is not that popular outside the continent but this final in particular is nothing like we've seen before. Only comparable with a Barcelona Madrid CL final maybe.
If you've never seen south-american football. this match can definitely ignite the passion you anyone to start following it a bit more. The passion with which this clubs and their fanbase live is above anything else seen in the world of football, just amazing.
