CONCACAF Champions League

So, I am trying to watch some CONCACAF Champions League, and I don't know why I never noticed this before but it hit me, the MLS is at a huge disadvantage. Don't get me started on the fact that the MLS should be on the same season schedule as the rest of the world, but because of that, they are in preseason form against teams that have been playing full games for what two and a half months now?

Some of the MLS teams would lose to the Liga MX teams no matter when they play but the better sides would give a much better challenge if it was not due to them barely getting back to playing.

No wonder everyone thinks the MLS teams suck after looking at this tournament. Eh, rant off..... :P

Yep... that is the case and has been for a long time. MLS dominates in group stages and then seem like they dont know how to play football in the quarter-final. I dont know the MLS structure well enough to understand the reason behind that weird schedule, because it is not American nor European. I believe it has to do with money or something comercial or along those lines. Until they dont fix that then MLS is destined to be knocked out in the early stages.

The MLS doesn't have the same schedule as the rest of the world because we can't. There's 3 feet of snow on the ground in some part of America a month ago. MLS breaks from October-February because we don't have a choice.

As a result, we play the group stages of the tournament in the middle/end of the season, and play the knock-out rounds when we're in preseason.

It's an awful system that there's really no fix for.

Do they play games during the World Cup? Cause I know they're in season during the summer.

They do. Teams with national players get to be bottom-feeders for a month, it's actually an interesting test of depth.

Couldn't MLS have started a at least a month ago? I dont think it will be that hard for them to rearrange the schedule so they dont go into CCL without having played any competitive games in a while.
