He seemed to poke Ronaldo in the eye as they ran for it. You can clearly see that Chielini looks at Ronaldo before putting his arm out, despite the fact that he can run on to the ball quite easily. But even so, I'm just wondering if it was a red card or no.

Seems a bit harsh to me, because even though he caught Ronaldo's eye, it's not like it was that nasty of a foul, and neither was Ronaldo out on an open breakaway. It was both of them running for a ball that was going out to the touchline. Yellow card would've been fair enough.

No, he deserved a yellow totally but maybe not a red because you clearly can see that Chielini didn't even hit Ronaldo on that side of the face that Ronaldo clutches and then falls down, but since Ronaldo was the last man maybe.

@SoccerBoss

I know, but Ronaldo was clutching his eye when he was on the ground. And adding in the fact that Ronaldo doesn't dive anymore, it seems to make more sense that way.

@Lodatz

You protect Gareth Bale from diving, saying he only did it a "couple of times", but you look down on me when I protect my player? Quite the hypocrite you are. Name the last time in the last 2 season where Ronaldo has made a meal out of a small foul.

It wasn't even really a foul, let alone a yellow, let alone a red. You can see Chiellini is expecting Ronaldo to challenge for the ball, so he holds up his arm as players do when they're trying to lean their weight into a tussle to get there first.

Ronnie didn't challenge after all, so his arm brushed him somewhere on the chin, and Ronaldo went down cluthing his eye.

That is, literally, all you need to know.

Pathetic refereeing.

Dude. Look at the GIF closely. Chielini's arm hits Ronaldo twice. First time on chin, second time his pinky goes in Ronnie's left eye. If you still can't see, tell me.

"You protect Gareth Bale from diving, saying he only did it a "couple of times","

Yes, because that's true.

"Name the last time in the last 2 season where Ronaldo has made a meal out of a small foul."

REALLY?

No it doesn't. The angle just makes it look that way., Ronaldo was already falling by the time of the 'bounce' of Chiellini's arm makes it look like a second time.

Lol, you're quite persistent. You seem to dislike Ronaldo so much you actually bothered to find half a dozen videos for him. Best part is, he mostly just fell to the ground after he got clipped. It was just the instance against Valencia where he claimed to have been clipped, but really wasn't. I actually never thought that you were the type of person to spend so much effort in trying to demean a man. I thought more of you than that.

I'm still standing my ground on the fact that Ronaldo was poked in the eye, and that it was a foul only deserving of a yellow card, not a red. I can clearly see that Chielini's finger hit him in the eye. Whether you can see that or not... I'm not concerned about it anymore.

Speaking of which, I saw a comment that made me laugh really hard.

"They should have at least let Giorgio Chielini punch him first before sending him off". It's hilarious because it's true. xD

No, see, that's the thing: I don't really care very much. It took me less than 30 seconds to find those links. Seriously, just type 'Ronaldo dive 2013' into a YouTube search bar, and you get dozens of links, immediately. I only stopped at 5, in fact, because I couldn't be bothered to spend any more time on this.

It was virtually no effort. And the reason why? Because saying that Ronaldo doesn't dive anymore is totally false. ;)

"I actually never thought that you were the type of person to spend so much effort in trying to demean a man."

I'm not. I literally don't care about this. I had some sort of vague desire for Juve to win, just because they need the points, but, other than that it doesn't affect me in any way.

It's just OBVIOUS what the truth is.

"I can clearly see that Chielini's finger hit him in the eye"

No, you can't. And the reason you can't, is because I can't either. And the reason I can't, is because that's not what your GIF shows at ALL. Find another angle which backs it up, because this one? Makes it look like Chiellieni only brushed him once upon the chin.

You're seeing what you want to see.

Anyways, I'm off to work. See you tonight.

No way. I think this red just killed Juventus hopes for any points at Bernabeu. Now they will got hard time just with 2 points.

I think this is clean red card for the grass, maybe six matches ban, what do you think?

If you don't care, don't post in this thread in the first place. And aren't you quite intelligent to know what I can see or think. You seem to be quite the genius here.

@quikzyy

LOL. Nah, I'm okay with Vidal doing that. He probably just did it to hide his shame, so it's okay. At least Illarra didn't get a red for that "foul". xD

Clear Dive or at least exagerating. But it become so mainstream in a world who thinks that parking the bus is a way of playing football. Only the result matters nowadays right ?? Sad.
The camera is clearly needed... some teams or players are more pointed than other in those cases, camera will end up all this bulls**t.
We cant blame Ronaldo here, in a certain way he helped the team, when the result becomes more important than how you win, dont expect a lot of fair-play.

That's just not a red. Too harsh.
We need Gary Neville on this.

@quikzyyy

apparently Vidal was lightly hit when he was starting to do the motion to cross/shoot and that disturbed his balance, it was not deserving of a penalty of course, but he wasn't acting either.
