Damn, I really wanted him to make 17 his thing. He was even born on January 7th. It fit him perfectly.

@VEN

I'm on the same boat as you. I wanted Hazard to make 17 his own. It isn't a bad number either and it suits him well. Oscar plays the no:10 role and giving him that shirt would see him commit to us and we need him because he's a great young player, who will soon emerge as one of the bests. Lukaku should take 11 and Costa 9, and Pogba 8 if we get him, but sadly Hazard got no:10

I never understand why people make a big deal with jersey numbers. That's just what it is: one or two numeric values that do nothing to make you a better player or give you magical powers. I know that it makes it easier to for fans to understand the positions of each player, but wearing a certain number that is mandated by tradition also brings about unnecessary pressure. Hazard might as well wear a non-traditional number like 34 and make it his own. If anything it probably makes him play and express himself better on the pitch. People talk about the "Magnificent 7s" at United, but they forget that flops (by the shirts standards) like Antonio Valencia, Michael Owen, Ralph Mine, Keith Gillespie, and Ashley Grimes also wore the #7.
