who will be the new Chelsea no. 10. I am talking about no. 10 shirt not no. 10 position . Please share your views on this post that who will get new no. 10 shirt.

For me Hazard should shift to 10 and Salah come to 17 because 22 is for willian

I think some of you guys don't get the Salah over Mata move. It's not about who's talented in the squad, it's about who can be more useful to us. Mata doesn't fit with Mourinho's style and tactics but Salah definitely will.

I do not like when Clubs retire numbers, unless tragedy has happened during his career . Otherwise , it should stay there and it should be honor for next player to wear it . I am sure tons of players would want to wear number 8 after Lampard retires .

So with Salah given the #15 I think Oscar or Hazard will take the number 10 but they can only change numbers in the summer.

Number 10 should be worn by our best player ! No doubt , Eden Hazard is best player at the moment .

But I feel like the #17 suits Hazard. For many reasons.

First of all it seems like a mix between Messi's (10) and Ronaldo's (7) number

Second, his birthday is on January 7th. That's 17 when put together in numbers.

I want him to make the 17 his own number so if (and I hope he does) retires at Chelsea there is a higher chance of retiring that number because it's uncommon.

I kinda feel the same V about Hazard's number. but then I'm used to Oscar wearing the number 11. So let's give it to Willian? :))

I'm still on the Oscar boat. I'd reserve the #11 to whoever our next main striker is. Be it Lukaku or any other striker we sign

I think I'm more ambitious than you, I want our next striker to have the number 9 :P

Why not both? Let's make our striker's number 119 :P.

you guys are talking about signing players like Ronaldo or Messi scoring...

To answer you question: No we didn't sign Ronaldo or Messi. We signed Salah. As for the playing time yes, otherwise Mourinho wouldn't sign him. It's not necessary to play him each game and that's what rotation is for when having a great depth.

^Ya, Mourinho typically plays players that he signed. Oscar would fit the #10 perfectly. #11 should go to the next striker Mourinho prefers to use.

I dont think english clubs retire numbers at all, no numbers are officially retired but every new or old player knows which numbers they are not supposed to wear according to who was before them. There are other cases like in Italy were you see Milan's #3 which was retired after Maldini and I believe it would continue to be officially retired for indefinite time or until another Maldini plays for them.. that is a little exaggerated.

I personally like the fact a team doesnt retire a number because then you can see how players who have the choice to wear certain number chooses another because of what that specific number represents. You can see a lot of that with United's #7, Kagawa dint want to use it, nor Zaha or many other players, Valencia just coudnt handle being the #7. I dont know if Mata is going for the #7 or the #8.

@Tuanis

#7 has a lot of history at Old Trafford. George Best, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, David Beckham, and Cristiano Ronaldo wore that jersey. And now it's given to Juan Mata. Although Mata is nowhere near as good as the others, I'm sure he'll make a decent #7.

I a had feeling we will give him Maloudas number .
As far as Hazard , Come to think of it . I do agree that 17 sits on him very well . Oscar can take 10 , because Oscar will be right next to Hazard in quality . It is amazing that they are barely in their 22nd and 23rd years their life . EPL being so tight and still competing in other cup competitions and World Cup coming up , I believe OScar and Hazard will have a hell of a year . Considering that both play for very talented national sides and both are maestros in their team.
