Didier Drogba!

according to Jose Mourinho, Drogba is Chelsea's best value player of all time.

Question to Chelsea fans: Was Lampard (11M) Chelsea's best value player of all time or Drogba (24M)??

If you want to discuss who will become the best value player of all time, then its Hazard no doubt.

I don't think Terry will qualify because he is homegrown. If you're looking for the best bargain, then we must look at Abramovich's Chelsea, or perhaps a little before his arrival. This is because most of us know very little of Chelsea's previous history, and they have been most successful post-Abramovich arrival anyways. I'd say Frank Lampard because he was less than half the price of Drogba, spent more time at the club, won more trophies, and scored more goals as well.

Ballack would qualify as well. Pretty sure he was a free agent and contributed greatly to Chelsea.

I'd say dollar to goals value, Hildon or Bentley is the best in the history of Chelsea. Abramovich era, its easily Frank Lampard for dollars to goals value. But a player's value goes beyond the goals...and in that sense Drogba earns the respect.

@Dyn

I get what you mean, but that's why I chose Terry. We got him from West Ham for almost nothing

You must take inflation into consideration as well when you are comparing best bargained player for what he achieved for us . Even though Zola has come at great price , he came in his 30s , so I think we also need to take age into consideration players .

So, in that aspect Drogba would cost in todays money 30 million Euro. Considering that he was not yet in his prime and still was developing , however , very promising talented player. He was turned into man for big games and occasions . Prolific striker and hard working player . Honestly only few moments where he let down and has showed up always in crucial times for Chelsea scoring crucial goals and doing crucial work upfront for the team . We won many titles thanks to him . So , for me Drogba is the bargain of our club . However, Eden Hazard can take that title away . He still has time .

@Marcus +1

You also have to remember that Drogba had to adapt to the PL where as Lamps understood it before. I think that is a great point.. No disrespect to Lamps, of course!

I made judgement based on the Value of the player and Age . If The same Drogba was on the market right now he would have been valued around 60 million pounds at least . So , based of it I think we got a great deal for the greal talent at such young age at the time . Drogba is 36 now ( well he had a little brake in other club ) and still can perform against top opposition . He is smart and collected player who is cleverly choosing his positioning to accommodate to his lost pace .
