All players listed are aged 23 and under:

  1. David De Gea- Age 22
  2. Rafael da Silva- Age 23
  3. Fabio da Silva- Age 23
  4. Danny Welbeck- Age 22
  5. Phil Jones- Age 21
  6. Chris Smalling- Age 23
  7. Angelo Henriquez- Age 19
  8. Tom Cleverley- Age 23
  9. Nick Powell- Age 19
  10. Michael Keane- Age 20
  11. Guillermo Varela- Age 20
  12. Wilfried Zaha- Age 20
  13. Adnan Januzaj- Age 18
  14. Jesse Lingard- Age 20
  15. Will Keane- Age 20

Lots of these players have had enormous amount of experience in the Premier League and we are yet to see the best in them. Players like Kagawa, Nani, Anderson, Rooney, Young, Valencia, and Evans are reaching their prime. Sometimes it is good to put things in perspective. SAF might be gone, but we are not doomed. Call me an optimist, but I believe that Manchester United are one signing of Fellaini away from retaining the PL title.

It would be great to see ManUtd still be a threat for the next decade, but....

I see City as the the winners of this season. In the beginning I thought it was surely Chelsea's year (it still might be), but they have got the experienced WC players instead of young and we have the transitioning players (Liverpool, ManUtd, Chelsea etc.). Also, all the positions they needed to fill in are filled now. With the addition of a great manager like Pellegrini too, I would see no other option but an EPL title for City. If they don't win a title this season they should be the laughing stock of England considering how much they spent already. Plus, Fellaini isn't really the best option for a CM/CDM IMO.

Despite all that though, yes ManUtd have a great future and good to see they'll give their rivals a tough test for many years to come :)

Looking forward to Januzaj, Lingard, Zaha playing next season. They have been cheeky in pre season.

@Vendetta, City are buying quite a lot of good players, I agree. But good luck trying to keep them happy. They now have 4 forwards: Negredo, Aguero, Dzeko, and Jovetic. Try creating a starting 11 with their team and you'll leave out some pretty good players on the bench. I really want to see how they would handle that situation and if it would cause some instability in their team. Secondly, I think the fact that they've bought so many players indicates that they will have some trouble with team chemistry. Now they are buying Pepe? It seems that they are going for an overhaul of their structure. That, combined with a new manager makes me wonder whether they will be as big of a threat as we think. Best reinforcements? Yes. Will that turn out to make them the winners of the PL this season? I am not so sure anymore. And Fellaini himself stated that the defensive midfield position is where he plays best. It is just that he was deployed forward so many times under Moyes, due to a lack of depth in those positions at Everton. @devilz, I agree, mate.

To be fair though, Dzeko was a sub even before Negredo and Jovetic came and Jovetic isn't really a proper striker. So that leaves Aguero, Negredo and Dzeko (talk about your o's...). I think Pellegrini will utilize rotation a lot this season and lead City to at least one title. And thanks for clearing up the Fellaini thing. I thought he preferred being forward.

@Vendetta You have a fair point about Dzeko. I guess we will have to wait and see, but I gotta say keeping so many of these great players happy with their contribution will be a tough task, especially if City have a losing streak where things aren't going their way.

Well from what I think, Pellegrini will play his favoured 4-2-2-2 formation. That means Hart/Panty on the goal, Zaba/Richards competing for RB, Clichy/Kolarov for LB, Nastasic/Kompany/Lescott and most probably Garcia for the 2 CB slots. Barry/Yaya/Fernandinho/Rodwell for the two holding midfielders. Silva/Nasri/Navas/Milner for the 2 attacking mids and Dzeko/Aguero/Jovetic/Negredo for the 2 strikers (which could be 1-1 if Jovetic is playing). Leaves out Sinclair who should be sold. That's exactly 2 players competing for each spot which sounds reasonable to me considering the number of games City will play in the year.

^^ I agree. City's success is going to ride on well Pellegrini uses that squad, and it's hardly bad to have such depth. I think City were smart, in that respect. No Cavani or Falcao, but two good strikers instead. Navas and Fernandinho too are excellent replacements for Barry and Nasri/Milner, too.

As for United: while everyone is going on about Fabregas, Fellaini and Thiago.... yeah, like devilz I think Zaha is going to make all that noise quite redundant. :p

Whenever Lingard comes up, I always think it's meant to say Lindergaard
