Arda wants out of Atleti: "We run too much here"

Barcelona, France 367 9768

For many, 'less is more', and that certainly appears to be the case for Arda Turan. He did not use those exact words, but the Turk has explained his reasons for wanting to leave Atlético de Madrid: the money on offer at other clubs and the physical demands of Simeone's playing style.

The club had wanted the player to say exactly what he wanted, rather than listen to his agent. Following the trip to China, that conversation finally took place over the phone and the midfielder apologised for Ahmet Bulut's behaviour, but confirmed what his agent had said: that he wants out.

He wants to leave because he is struggling with the physical demands of Cholo's game. He would rather play in a system in which he is exempt from defensive duties. Arda missed several big games with what seemed to be minor injuries, including the last game of the 2013/14 season, the Champions League final, the last game of last season and the key game in their quest for third place, against Granada.

Atlético have told the Turk the conditions under which he may leave the club. His buy-out clause is €41m. Although they may not insist on as much, the club will only listen to serious offers.

from Marca.

I understand Turan, being under Simeone could be really painful physically and mentally, the player may be tired and not paid the amount he deserves, at least what less talented players earn elsewhere. A departure would be good for him and for Atleti if someone wants to match his buy out clause, he excluded joining a Spanish team, he will listen to PSG and PL teams offers...

Jackson Martinez and Vietto who are doing the opposite move are warned...

From another point of view on Atletico developement, they should grow faster as a club and be able to increase their players wages depending on what they achieved and their importance in the squad, or they will see their main players leave after making a name like at Porto.
They offer a little more than Porto playing in la Liga and highering a bit the wages, but with the quality and hard work demanded by their coach and club, its hard to refuse to go overseas and double the wages...

The Porto model of getting value/Good scouting/ big progression/ getting value again is paying and gives a strong financial stability, but if Atleti wants to compete in domestic titles and give a fight in Madrid derbies and CL, they should keep the players that are key like Koke, Godin, Griezmann...

Their transfer policy, investing on approved talented youngsters like Griezmann, Jimenez and Vietto is very good for the future following a long term plan, but it costs some time to setle and progress, and this would make them being future contenders but not current, but if the players they formed and helped to progress are sold when they reach maturity and be ready for a season race, then Atletico could say goodbye to the league trophy for a while.

What do you think about the player ? His aspirations ? And what policy should Atleti followknowing that El Cholo isnt leaving in the near future....

@D: Looking forward to the incoming argument between @tiki and you!

Anyways, @rampage, if you're trying to find - even a glimpse of - logic in UEFAs/FIFAs decisions, you're wasting your time. It's not a pro-Barcelona decision, it's fear of making a drastical step which would be catastrophical for some clubs at first, but would have a positive influence on the sport - not the business - that is football in the long run. I'm writing these lines thinking of the absolutely pathetic attempts at punishments for FFP breaches. Remember when Manchester City were fined 60 million pounds for spending too much money on players? What are 60 million pounds for that Sheikh who owns City? That's like 10 cents for you and me, it doesn't hurt them at all. Instead of throwing out these absolutely laughable fines they should deduct points for not complying with the rules. That would encourage the rich owners to handle their finances more wisely - after all the reason why they bought a club is the prospect of winning titles. But instead of doing that, UEFA reportedly plans on softening the FFP rules to attract more potential owners. Great job there.

Apparently the player is brought on Luis Enrique request, so both presidency main candidates agreed about the move.
For Atleti, they are targetting Gaetan from Benfica who could be dangerous under Simeone, with Vietto and Martinez signing, Siquiera, Niguez and Gimenez progression and adaptation, Atleti are keeping their squad strong.

Out of the top 5, thats Sevilla who are mostly to follow, they lost Rakitic and came back stronger, now they lost Bacca to Milan and Vidal to Barça ( Vidal just had his breakthrough season ) and seeing M'bia going to Trabzonspor. i believe knowing the work done there by scouts and coach that they will adapt again, they have a strong identity and just like Porto/Benfica, players departures doesnt ruin their competitiveness.

JuanMata its basically this as well:
Fifa- You've been sepending too much money, so im gonna punish you by making you spend some more.

The decision wasn't pro Barca or anything. Barcelona just found a loop hole around it and FIFA is too lazy to enforce anything. FFP is a joke as well. All you had to do to work around it was lone the player you wanted to buy with a clause that you were obligated to purchase the player for a given fee the following year.

FFP hurts clubs like us , Dortmund , Atletico and helps top clubs like Chelsea, Bayern , Barcelona , Madrid ..

It has nothing to do with FIFA... a club cant be banned from getting into agreements with other clubs for players. If the had been banned from doing so then both clubs could simply deny that there is a transfer agreement. But since this is not the case Barcelona can actually make the signing official. They just can play any new players. They are banned from transfers not precisely form signings.

@Raimondo
"Where would Arda fit?"

on the bench i guess.
edit: you may say it's a waste; it kinda is because Turan is a quality player, but in this Barcelona is perfectly understandable to have a top quality bench as well. god i still remember when Milan had people like Boban warming the bench. that's the deal to be an unstoppable team. i love that feeling when you know that your opponents are as well scared by people your club has on the bench.

Well.. He wont have to run that much on the bench, maybe that is what he wanted. Good addition for Barcelona, lets see how this guy adapts there.

Arda is an amazing player. And I think, in Simeone's tactical system he couldn't show his real talent and real quality. I've been watching him since he was 19-20 and I believe he'll be amazing at Barcelona. He has some special things, I'm sure he will show it again.

I am so infuriated by Turan's transfer. His agent outright lied to the public last month: “His will is to leave and to play in the Premier League, that is the path he would like to take to continue his career." This was a cowardly move by him; going to a direct rival for more money despite being ineligible to participate in competitive matches for half a year. Completely anti-football if you ask me. To say that I wish him the best at his new club would be dishonest on my part.

What do you expect from a man who threw his cleats at a referee just because he didn't like his decisions.

Not sure for money, if he wanted money his destination would be Premier League and Chelsea who were offering more wages. I think it could have been worst if he went to Madrid, Atletico has no special hattred with Barcelona except competition. Its good not to see Atleti players escaping from the league.

He cant register with Atleti in CL because you cant play for 2 teams in one season, nothing has been decided yet, he could go on loan somewhere or play for the B-team.
