He has already proved his quality. van Gaal has a great eye for talent. He does it in every team he manages.

He is an amazing player, but let's just hope he can continue his form, and not 1 season, United needs him and deppay together for at least 3 seasons consecutively. We dont need another Robinho, Pato, Berrardi, Jese etc. There are tons of players with the exact potential or even way better but were long gone after 2 seasons. We need him to stay focus and target the BEST not OK. But I also agree with wolfie, Van gaal really does know talent when he sees one

^ Progression comes with playing, if he keeps playing regularly he will progress. The reason why i prefer him to Sterling is his maturity and sharpness, Raheem built a name, then made money and stopped progression, less focused on Football in my eyes, he is playing regularly for 3 years now and he seems stagnating while he should have stepped a level.
I predict KDB to establish himself faster at City.

I see something in Martial that I have not seen in a long time. He's going to get alot better. He already display great technical quality, very strong and intelligent for his age. I rate him higher than Sterling from what I have seen.

+1 @Wolfie. He is just an amazing player. Probably the best in his age group. Also, seeing how much sportsmanship conduct he showed helping Van Dijk stretch out his cramp while the ball was still in play demonstrated maturity beyond his age. BTW (not related), I have high hopes for Inter this year. 100% record. Hope they keep it up and bag the Scudetto.

+1 to you too game. Not only does van Gall have a great eye for talent, but he has consistently developed raw talent to the best player in the World.
It has been a long time and a lot of painful years. I just hope Inter can qualify for CL again a Scudetto definitely wouldn't hurt. ;) About time Juve were knocked off their perch.
I'm happy to see ManU performing well again. If Depay can step up too, it will be a very successful season. Don't even get me started about Schweini.. I'm still in shock, but excited at what lays ahead.

"I see something in Martial that I have not seen in a long time."

do you mean he's one of those players who have an old fashioned football champion soul?

he's cold and emotionless in front of goal. A killer striker in the making.

@shpal - Yes, something like that. I get this feeling of an old champion soul reincarnated in the body of a young man (not talking about Henry but champion souls in general). Hard to explain. I feel United got a bargain. Last time I got this feeling was when I saw a young Adriano (Messi is an alien so doesn't count). So, as you know how that ended. It is up to Martial how far he will take it on the road to immortality. But I really do believe he will be among the World best very soon. I hope. Looks like a focused guy.. Quiet, no nonsense player. I respect this quality very much.
I think football is good when ManU is challenging and playing exciting football. Now if Inter can get back to cl and Milan can get back on track, (Juve to Serie B, jk) All will be right in the football World again.
Also, I kinda feel a little bad for Liverpool and Arsenal how is been. But the sour always make the sweet taste better. But I hope I never have to go through what I have seen in the last few years. I think I have died too many times in my soul. We will rise together and go to war like to brother fighting for the same wife. haha. Good luck to you and everyone. (Except Juve, jk, but really p;))

He certainly proved me wrong, that's for sure. Hahaha, LVG has a brilliant eye for talent, but I was more impressed by how composed Martial was with all the media hype around him before he joined. Seems like a real mature lad. Props to him.

Gotta admit, this kid isn't as bad as I thought. I certainly think that he shined the last 3-4 games because of the situation he was put in.. If Man Utd payed, I don't know, 10-15M range he wouldn't have been the same.

Picture this: A) Top team payed big $ to get you in the last day of the Transfer Market, knowing that they'll rely on you or B) Top team paid a reasonable amount for you to develop... See what I'm talking about? Most of the time, the situation you're in makes or breaks you.

That being said, I don't wanna switch between the extreme of saying "He ain't worth the money" to the other extreme of saying "Great purchase!" I just wish him success and consistency!

I had watched him play many times while he was at Monaco but I totally did not expect him to make such a positive start. Like many of you have mentioned, a massive price tag and publicity either make or break you. Martial has grasped this opportunity with both hands. I like his attitude and style of play so I hope he succeeds at United.

I love his first-start ever debut, great display... I really hope he stays this way and we will have way more option when Rooney is fully fit. Depay showed some concerns (he might be a bit jealous?) but I believe soon it will be cleared out.

It's too early to say anything but this looks so promising!

Never listen to people that predict a player's future before thye have even played a match for the club. One of the "experts" on BBC said he'll flop.

From where I'm sitting, it looks better, but 3 games don't make what is hopefully a long career with United. He will have his ups, as he's having now, as well as his downs, and if the fans crucify him during the downs, it could get rough.

I'm still skeptical of the money spent, but as an article I was reading the other day pointed out, if he ends up costing his max price, United won't care, because he'll have won the ballon 'dor.

Anothony Martial surprised me so far . Still United gambled big for such young player but if he continues his form and develops into top asset then every penny will be well spent .

i kinda get what you mean, i have that same feeling regarding Bacca, even if he's not that young. it's about attitude, "no nonsense player", that's it.
