@Dynastian98... I heard there was a 30 for 30 ESPN documentary about him and Andres Escobar. I have tried to seen but I just don't have the time. Have you seen it?
@Chanakya
No I have not, but I have heard that it is very emotional for football fans, and can bring one to tears. Maybe one for the future? :/
YES, I remember this one, I was a kid, my family loves football and this horrible incident was one of the biggest things back then. It changed football, indeed, once and forever.

On this day 20 years ago, Colombian defender Andres Escobar was murdered by a Colombian cartel.
Events leading up to this tragic event:
June 22nd - During the 1994 World Cup which was being held in the U.S., Colombia needed a win to ensure their survival in the World Cup when they went up to the U.S. in a group stages match. Colombia lost this game 2-1 due to an own goal conceded by Andres Escobar. Colombia got eliminated from the World Cup and were sent home.
After they got eliminated, Escobar decided to go back to Colombia instead of visiting his relatives in Las Vegas.
July 1st - Escobar and his friends decided to go a bar in Medellin where shortly after, they went to a liquor store. From there, they went to a nightclub where his friends split up.
July 2nd - At 3am, Escobar went to his car in the parking lot when he saw 3 people walk up to him. They showed up and started arguing with Escobar. He was then shot by a person later known as Humberto Castro Munoz.
Reasons: There have been a lot of conspiracy theories surrounding why he was murdered but it is widely believed that he was killed because gamblers lot a ton of money gambling for this event. Munoz later said in court that it wsa "punishment" for scoring an own goal.
His murder changed the football world forever. It was a really big loss for Colombia.
