As @Madridista11 pointed out, he's smiling. I think people are too obsessed with Ronaldo, and look at everything he does in a bad way.

@bluezz you wouldn't like a player like Ronaldo at Chelsea, but you're alright with MOURINHO as your coach? Doesn't make sense...

@Dyn: you dont understand why people criticizing him is as much as we dont get why his fans are defending "he is being himself".

Agree with your point he's one of the greatest ever... But in order to have that, he should thanks his teammates. What he does from time to time is being pure prick, to be honest if I was Bale or Benz I would think tiwce before trying to score or should I pass to him first... this kind of pressure is extremely unhealthy, those players have already have high pressure as they do.

You do something wrong, you get criticized, deal with it. It's not end of the world, we fans are nothing, we just voice our opinions. You think what Ronaldo is just he being competitive, we (some) as natural fans thing he's acted like a jerk (repeatedly).

A teacher pet, or bully can always have that excuse they want to be the best of the class, among their friends... it's their natural... Don't you think it's a lame excuse.

Btw, This will add to the future discussion when comparing him with one of those greatests (including Messi)... because we and you all love to bring facts.

@Tuan

Since when does he not thank his teammates? He loves Benzema, and he is the reason Benzema was kept at the club and Higuain was sold. He frequently assists Benzema, and they are very good friends. Notice how no player who has played with him ever says anything poor about Ronaldo. That goes to show that they know exactly what type of person he is, and his attitude on the pitch doesn't reflect his true personality. He hasn't once been a prick to his team mates, and that's a fact. Just name one instance. All his "controversy" is him being frustrated and doing stupid things. As was the case here. He didn't behave wrongly with Arbeloa in the least. He just did something that is wrong to do when your team mate scores, and people are demonizing him for it.

"to be honest if I was Bale or Benz I would think tiwce before trying to score or should I pass to him first"
The answer is quite obvious, is it not? Pass to Ronaldo. If he isn't available, shoot. Ronaldo has a much higher chance of scoring than Benz or Bale, and it is Bale's selfishness in front of goal which has separated him from Benz and CR. CR and Benz have incredible chemistry, and they frequently assist each others' goals.

"you dont understand why people criticizing him is as much as we dont get why his fans are defending "he is being himself"."
I understand why people criticize him. I don't understand why people only view him for his negatives. He is naturally self-absorbed and arrogant. Is you bitching about it here on this thread going to change that? No. It's his nature. Just learn to accept it already. He plays for glory, both for himself and his team, and in his mind he is the best and he will win everything. That is a simple fact about CR.

Mate, I never said he does not thanks his teammates.

As for Benz or Bale, for sure Ronaldo has given a lot to them too. But Ronaldo can shoot as much as he wants (thanks god he does it less and create a lot of chances for others too). There is no black and white but I do play football and I feel the pressure and annoyance of having a better guy criticizing me if I go a bit solo while he does all the time... I lost my confident momentarily.

Like you said, he did that stupid thing... and to some of us he has done that more than enough to see the pattern.

We dont only view him for his negatives, if we only do that he would not be the MOST-fans in the world... more than Messi... He's adored admired by plenty including me.

But I see Messi is way beyond him except scoring.

Again, they are 2 of the best ever players

However, like you said, it is frustrating to see a player of his caliber and respect to do such actions.... he has not changed so that's why I said it's about time we all accept him for who he is. He isn't being a prick, he's just being self-absorbed and competitive as usual.

Ronaldo is very easy target for everyone . Many people hate him , but I am sure all of them would wish to be him .

Why hate another human being , you have never met in life ? Why say such nasty things about a person, who did not do anything to you ? Forget about his fame and being best footballer , just as human to human , he deserves respect.

It is incredible how much abuse these professionals get from fans , from media and still manage to be professional.

Ronaldo has very thick skin . I would have curse the F8ck out every c@nt at the press conference and at the stadium.

However, he is top professional that does not let such things to get to him and works extremely hard week and week out . And if Media and fans were not all over his as* who knows Ronaldo would have done even more amazing things .

I believe healthy clear mind is important for professional in any sport to perform.

@real

I don't see what you mean about being ok with Mourinho at Chelsea ? Mourinho has a character and too straight forward . Has a tongue like a blade , but that is his level of commitment to his team . Use every tool he has at his disposal to win .

Mourinho is exactly same kind of thick skin person like Ronaldo . They are one of the best at what they do individually .

I know one thing these professionals who are hated the most right now will go down in history as legends .

Everyone quickly forgot how much they hated Sir Alex Ferguson ( although i hated him too but as I grew up I learned to admire him ) , now he is football preacher schooler and legendary personality of world football .

A lot of people hated Maradona during his career for cheating and doing drugs, but people now look back on him as possibly the greatest ever. I'm sure Cristiano will receive a similar legacy: one of the undisputed greats in history and arguably the greatest goalscorer in history as well.

I think that smile is just sarcastic out of frustration, it's quite obvious, he does it a lot, doesn't mean he was happy. Honestly.

I think there is a truth in Real Madrid forcing Bale & Benzema etc to play more to C.Ronaldo even when there would be better chance to go alone which isn't healthy imo.

I wouldn't really praise too much his assist vs Atleti too much for being unselfish, C.Ronaldo basically celebrated himself there like Drogba did in that assist when he played in China and basically could not have shot himself. Not saying it wasn't well played by him, not at all.

I dunno a lot about this "why'd you criticize them" when they make +50 million a year. I think at that point you should be more than just a great footballer.

Never really criticized him off the field, looks like a great guy and obviously if I met him, I'd know more. Maybe one day I'll lol.

Last thing. I think while you criticize people, it just shows our own values - hardcore C.Ronaldo fans probably value self minded things more while I respect team effort. It's normal I guess.

@decent you really think that ronaldo was mad that arbeloa scored and not him. I have never seen anyone so determined, but hey this is football if you think he is a selfish prick, fine I'm not forcing you to at least respect him. You think what you think about him.

@Marcus spot on! If it was messi who raised his hand indicating that he hasn't scored and it was an own goal, the media and fans will go so hype the next thing is Messi, the most modest player ever. But since it was Ronaldo no one will give two shits about him :)

Ronaldo must be really sarcastic right now.

Yeah I don't buy into this whole thing of Messi being an angel . He is amazing player and professional worthy of admiration but he has his devils . Probably as person he is great person . However, I still believe Ibrahimovic and Villas departure were made possibly with his involvement as well .

@Bluezz Ronaldo only cares about himself? He's the second player with most assists in the BBVA, don't go making assumptions because of what the media chooses to show. The pictures clearly show him smiling, so if you're in denial I can do nothing about it. Your naivety is remarkable lmao. Mourinho is a ****, simple as that. Don't even try to say he isn't, and I dont even have to argument why because we all know it's true.

@Marcus I completely agree with what you say, but for Bluezz to say that he wouldn't want someone like Ronaldo in his team is idiotic when he's got Mourinho who is, like you said, the same sort of skin as Ronaldo. If he's ok with someone like that to manage a team, I dont see the problem in having someone like Ronaldo in it.

Any team would want ronaldo no matter how arrogant he is, I want messi more than anything but hey that's impossible.
