Sky Bet made Arsenal fans’ collective hearts skip a beat on Thursday afternoon after the bookies announced they’d suspended betting on Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain joining Arsenal.

Will Gonzalo make a big impact in Arsenal ? Have your say...

I think he will make a huge impact at the Emirates! I see him scoring at least 20 goals for them in Premier League, he's a top class striker..

That's a great signing for the Gunners.

Damnit.

Jovetic would have been better imo but he is more expensive. Good signing tho :)

@Alex

Nah, Higuain is better. Jovetic may be young and talented, but Higuain is about to enter his prime, and is experienced in international football and the CL. Arsenal can use an experienced and middle-aged player like Higuain a LOT in the coming years. Players like the Ox can learn a lot from Higuain's experience. And if he DOES move to Arsenal, I can see him scoring 20+ goals in the EPL if he is given the proper playing time.

@Dynastian

I know that he is a good player but he is somehow like Torres at the moment. Torres is slowly regaining his confidence though. We will see how he will adopt to Arsenal's football style. I wish him a good luck :)

@Alex

No, he's nothing like Torres right now. Higuain is booming with confidence, and unlike Torres, Higuain is actually a very, VERY good striker. Not one of the best in the world, no, because he has to compete with the likes of RVP and Ibra for that position, but he is VERY good at what he does. I mean, it takes a LOT of talent to be Real Madrid's 12th highest scorer in history. :P

I'm all good with the big signings in the EPL. I hope he plays good then :) At the end of the day we want to watch a beautiful and competitive football. :)

Players like Torres are quite lazy IMO

Everything I'm reading now is that an offer was never made, and I don't know if this is just more summer mind games with Perez or whoever at Real being a dick, but what is the real status? So scared we're going to miss out on a good striker (though I'd be thrilled with Suarez instead). Anyone??

@Onenil: I feel like there are some great striker out there, but few that are trustworthy.
I like Higuain and i want him to come but even he has some history of constantly asking for pay rises.
Don't even get me started on Suarez... love the player... the perfect kind of striker we need... but not worth it at all. just think about it!
You think AW would spend 3x his record signing fee for a guy who 1) has a track record of missing many games due to suspension 2) is publicly courting other teams while on contract at his current club 3) has a bad image that will harm that of the club and most importantly 4) a guy who whenever wants to jump ship bites an opponent? (he did it in Holland, got banned for 7 games and moved on. Did it with Liverpool, got banned for 10 games and is trying to force a move. Coincidence? Perhaps, but I wouldn't be surprised if he did it on purpose.

It's the suarez special transfer bite move. Ingenious.

Footaholic, you're right about Suarez, but he is SO GOOD. I'm just confused because I read at one point Higuain was en route to London for his physical.

I just don't want another year like last. This is the worst time of the year for an Arsenal fan.

I think he would feel better in England with us in Madrid... when he fails to score easy chances :/

I hope he doesn't leave, because if he does, Real Madrid will most likely try to replace him with Suarez :(
