Simeone and Mandzukic didn't see eye to eye, which happened around the time Torres was brought in. Mandzukic very likely wanted to play a major role in the club.

He carried Atleti in first leg when Griezmann was still adapting, then he was unlucky to drop form in the money time, his stats were good in the begining of the season, in the second leg his stats were very poor.

Anyway we dont know what happened behind the scenes, but i think its good for Mario to go to Juve, and Atleti will get their South American forward who fits more with their style.

Its complicated to come after Diego Costa/Old Falcao impressive seasons, Mario didnt flopped anyway, but wasnt enough to compete this year.

Mandzukic repeatedly stressed that he does not work in Simeone's counter-attacking system, and Simeone refused to change the system for him. Griezmann adapted much better than Mandzukic to Atleti's system too, so Simeone no longer had any need for a target man who was useless on the counter. Basically, Mandzukic is not quite Falcao, and therefore unnecessary to Simeone's plans.

Looks like Firmino is heading to Liverpool for around £28 million and NOT United. I didn't really think we needed him anyways. It's fair to say that Raheem Sterling is definitely moving, most likely to City.
