Interesting, but I dont get the net spend box, has United spent more than Madrid in total in the past five transfer windows? RM hasn't sell much and has bought a ton of players...

@Tuanis

We had 0 net income in both windows of 2012/13, net expenditure of 40 Million in 2013/14, and a net expenditure of 120 Million this transfer window. That's a net expenditure of 160 Million Euros in the last 5 windows, which translates to approximately 128 Million Pounds (displayed as 126 due to inflation and currency rate changes over the years). Maybe a little bit more research is due in your favor... ;)

I love how City's net spend over the last 5 years is only 2/3rds of Barcelona or United's spending, only 4/5ths of Real Madrid and Chelsea's, and not even close to HALF of P$G's.

And yet everyone calls City the 'money' side... ;)

+1 tiki_taka for that summary. People are to cheap with their thumbs up on the forum.

^ if you mean that people give them out cheaply, for things that do not deserve it, then I would agree.

Real proud of Chelsea's transfers this year. We were the winners. Cesc for a bargain of 30m, Costa for a reasonable price of 32m, Luis for a decent 15m and King Drogba returns for free.

Meanwhile, Mata, Luiz and Lukaku are sold for a combined fee of 105m and the likes of Marin, McEachran, Piazon, Moses, Atsu and Romeu are off our wage list.

Also, Courtois is finally back after having Atletico pay his wages for the past 3 years. They literally paid him more in these 3 years than we bought him. They have paid him 7.1m pounds in wages while we bought him for 7m. Crazy. (That's obviously going to change now though but still, good stuff)

It was a fight and it was also going to invite others into it, which would have put this thread on the wrong track. Now let's stay on topic.

People takes specific stats about a specific period and try to generalise, 5 transferts market is only 2 years and half.
City is a money team, because in their rebuilding period they overpaid for their whole squad just like PSG did lately, take the same facts past 5 seasons instead of 5 transfert markets and you will understand...
Dont be stupid people, you can make the biggest spender of the moment looks like the most reasonable one if you chose a specific period.
PSG only spent 48M this year does it mean they didnt spend before or they are reasonable ? No.

Well, I disagree once again with Arsenal sum. Arsenal's net spend is ~21m (pounds) imo. This is actually HUGE difference.

Vermaelen 15m - Djourou 2,5m - Vela's rights 12m - Fabregas' rights 5,6m

Debuchy 12m - Sanchez 30m - Chambers 11m (maybe bonuses in future) - Ospina 3m

  • Ppl always talk about transfer fees when the wage bill is pretty huge part too. The main reason why Arsenal have sold Sagna(for free), Nasri and RvP etc.

@ DecentK Where did you get the Fabregas 5,6m number from? Dailymail? If I'm not mistaken, Arsenal doesn't receive any money from the Fabregas Chelsea transfer. One of the clauses in the arsenal-Barcelona contract was that Arsenal would receive 50% of
any profit Barcelona made on a future sale of Fabregas IF they sold him for more than they bought him from Arsenal. According to transfermarkt the final sum in the sale of Fabregas from Arsenal to Barcelona ended at 29,92m£ while he was sold to Chelsea for less (29,04m£).

^ I can't obviously be 100% sure, but that's what I believe and that may be one of the reasons why Arsenal didn't sign Cesc (along with that we don't need CM).

0
Vendetta 10 years ago
Chelsea FC, Egypt 202 3025

@decentK:

Just out of curiosity, why don't you need another CM? Wilshere has shown his inconsistency for a while now and Ramsey is your only top class CM (Arteta and Flamini would flop as CMs). So what will Wenger do if Ramsey gets injured like last season? Rely on a recently inconsistent Wilshere and exhaust him until Ramsey comes back? We all know what happened to Arsenal's results after Ramsey got injured. :/

I'm not saying buy a starter like Fabregas for a lot (I consider 29.04m a bargain though) but going for a good backup CM would help in the long run.

Chelsea FC, Sweden 52 2449

@decentK That´s what you believe? But if, what you stated is incorrect, do you still believe so? The official reason for the rejections is that Fabregas would compete directly with Özil. tiki_taka's estimation is correct.
