Predictions
We believe Chelsea is overrated going into this final. We expect the match to be much more competitive than it appears when you see such a clear favorite and a clear underdog.
Betis have some powerful weapons of their own. Most notably — Antony and Isco, who have been playing spectacular football. Since Antony moved to Seville in January, Betis have been in tremendous form. They surpassed Real Madrid, drew with Barcelona, and won the Seville derby. We see no reason why they can't beat Chelsea as well. It’s entirely possible. The Blues are not as strong as they seem.
Betis secured a European spot a couple of matchdays before the end of the season. They were no longer chasing a Champions League place, but also couldn’t drop down the table — so they were under no pressure for results. Their last game was five days before the final. Chelsea had nearly half that rest. They had to play just three days before the final, on Sunday, still fighting for a Champions League place. That match against Nottingham took a lot out of them. They won in their usual pragmatic style — 1–0 — and secured a Champions League ticket.
We think Betis' freshness could play a key role. Our main prediction for this match is both teams to score. We base this on Betis' attacking style. In their last 11 games, the "both teams to score" bet has always landed. Their defense is weak, but they make up for it with brilliant attacking play. While Chelsea are much more pragmatic and cautious, we believe Betis can find the net. Their emotion and drive should be enough to break through the Londoners’ defense.
What we find harder to believe is that Betis will keep a clean sheet. A draw in regular time feels like the most logical outcome.
