Match facts

Chelsea

  • Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain meet for the first time since PSG's 4-2 aggregate win in the 2015/16 Champions League last 16.
  • Only Real Madrid (five) and Barcelona (four) have reached the FIFA Club World Cup final more times than Chelsea (three).
  • Chelsea have won all five major UEFA and FIFA tournament finals (excluding Super Cups) since 2013, most recently beating Real Betis 4-1 in the 2025 UEFA Conference League final. Their last defeat in such a final came against Corinthians in the 2012 Club World Cup, which ended 1-0.
  • Chelsea have won 13 of the past 15 matches in all competitions, losing only at Newcastle and to Flamengo (both times finishing with 10 players), and recorded seven clean sheets during this period.
  • Chelsea’s last 10 goals in this year’s competition (excluding own goals) have been scored by nine different players.

Paris Saint-Germain

  • This will be the first major international final contested between teams from England and France.
  • Paris St-Germain won both the Ligue 1 and Coupe de France titles, and defeated Inter Milan to become the first French team to win a continental treble.
  • PSG faced English teams eight times in the Champions League this season, losing to Arsenal (2-0), beating Manchester City (4-2) in the league stage, and eliminating Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Arsenal in the knockout stages.
  • PSG have won 10 of their past 11 matches across all competitions.
  • Since the Coupe de France final, Paris Saint-Germain have secured victory in their last five knockout round matches with a combined score of 18-0, including a 10-0 aggregate over opponents in the knockout stages of the Club World Cup.
  • Paris Saint-Germain secured victory in their most recent penalty shoot-out, defeating Liverpool 4-1 in the UEFA Champions League in March.

Predictions

Chelsea will play in the FIFA Club World Cup final for the third time in their history. They won the tournament in 2022. Can they do it again? Enzo Maresca has been instrumental in helping the team reach its goals. Thanks to the Italian specialist's work, the London side has risen to a new level, capturing the UEFA Conference League last season.

At the 2025 Club World Cup, Chelsea suffered only one defeat — in the group stage match against Flamengo (1–3). Fortunately, that loss didn’t knock them off track. In the playoffs, the Blues proved that Brazilian teams wouldn't stop them. They defeated Palmeiras (2–1) in the quarter-finals and then beat Fluminense (2–0) in the semi-finals.

In that last match, João Pedro scored a brace. He started in the lineup due to a suspension for the team’s main striker, Liam Delap, who was out with a yellow card accumulation. Now Enzo Maresca faces a dilemma. It’s already difficult to choose among so many talented players, but when they all perform this well, the task becomes even harder.

PSG were named the best club in the world by the analytics portal Opta. And it's hard to argue with that. It’s difficult to imagine anyone beating the Parisians. They have won every competition they've entered this season. Now they’re aiming to lift the 2025 Club World Cup.

Like Chelsea, Luis Enrique’s side has lost only one match in the tournament — a 0–1 defeat to Botafogo. However, their playoff path featured much stronger opponents than Chelsea’s. PSG first crushed Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami (4–0), then sent Bayern Munich packing (2–0), and in the Club World Cup semi-finals, they destroyed Real Madrid (4–0).

It’s hard to pinpoint any weaknesses in Luis Enrique’s squad. Perhaps there are none. Ousmane Dembélé missed part of the tournament due to injury but returned to score in both of his last two matches. Bradley Barcola, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Fabián Ruiz, Désiré Doué — they’re all difficult to contain. And in goal, Gianluigi Donnarumma has been rock solid — arguably the best goalkeeper in the world right now.

Both PSG and Chelsea boast incredible squad depth and quality. However, there’s one major difference: while the Blues have only recently reached this elite level, PSG have been building toward this moment for years and are now at their peak. There’s also some uncertainty about how Enzo Maresca’s team will fare against top European opposition.

PSG have already eliminated Bayern and Real Madrid. Chelsea, on the other hand, haven’t faced truly elite opponents yet. We predict a PSG win with over 2.5 total goals in the match at odds of 2.20. The Blues will likely find the net at least once, but the Parisians can score as many as they like.

Bet: PSG to win vs Chelsea + Over 2.5 goals — odds 2.20.
