Fabinho is sensational. I'll be sorry if he's away from DM for a while, but it makes me feel less concerned about VVD's absence. Jota looks an absolute star; real competition for Bobby already.

Life is so scary without the assurance of VVD at the heart of our defence but both Fab and Joe were brilliant. Adrian terrorises me but he made a couple of good saves. Very happy with the game considering the injury crisis we are going through at the moment.

You're happy with a 1-0 (OG) win against Ajax?

Fabinho is new CB. Looks like Liverpool not going to miss VVD with fabinho playing as CB. Overall good game by both.

Sigh... The defending in the first 20 minutes were bad, and the finishing was mediocore. Rough patch of Time for Liverpool. Fabinho was good at the back, and Adrian, is shaky but today he delivered.

Watching Adrian makes me wonder if the loss of Alisson isnโ€™t a bigger loss than VVD.

@Pelle you have a good point. I remember the year we won the CL we played against Bayern without VVD at the Allianz and won comfortably but the one game we were without Ali in the CL we lost miserably to ATM at Anfield. Alisson is so important for us, not only is he world-class GK he brings calmness throughout our defence. When Adrian is in goal even VVD's performances drop that's how bad he is he affects everyone around him in a negative way.

As good as VVD is, at least there are *some* options in defense for Liverpool that can do a decent enough job to fill in even if it's not at quite the same level. The gap between Allison and Adrian is quite extensive however. So yes I would also say that's probably a bigger loss for Liverpool simply because of the lack of alternatives
