How on Earth is that a penalty? He was basically pushed over onto the ball so it hit his hand. If anything that should be a freekick for Betis surely?

Was not jokic offside for emerson second yellow? So how tf VAR did choose to ignore that offside check. Last year madrid wom every game in second half with penalties and now it is happening all over again. The worst part is that this is happening from the beginning of the season. At this rate of getting penalties, would make sure ramos will have 37 goals by end of the seasons.. such a shameless manipulation going on here..

Well looks like this season a hand is part of offside calls and in this case jovic was onside because of betis player's hand. Still pretty bs how unclear all these var rules are. Also, I thought unless it's a pk call they wouldn't go back to it.

Real Betis had their number but somehow RM found a way to get the W. That Benzema shot was in WTF they don't have some sort of VAR in LaLiga? Benzema got robbed. Pathetic penalty smfh

The ball did not completely cross the line. Most leagues including la liga have the goal line technology. Ref has a watch where it tells him if the ball crossed. Benz didn't get robbed or anything.

I don't understand these var calls anymore. Pretty sure they also said that a hand is not counted for an offsite and this season apparently it does. They really need to be more clear about all these rules. Aside from all that var bs, this was a great game to watch with back and forth action. Counters from both teams were absolutely amazing. Betis plays the most beautiful style in la liga. Reminds me of Setien's betis. Hopefully pellegrini will sort out their defensive problems and they will for sure reach top 6 this season. Gratz to Madrid and better luck for betis.

The penalty is the correct decision to me, there was no push whatsoever from Mayoral, the defender was just off balance when he was trying to defend that ball. @Akkadian, Mayoral wasn't offside before the handball. I thought he was too at first but later saw the VAR image (I wasn't quick enough to take the screenshot but you should be able to make it out from this image). The decisions I don't agree with are the own goal (Benzema looked offside to me and even though he didn't touch the ball, he made a clear attempt to play the ball, so I fail to see why the goal was allowed) and the red card seemed harsh to me as Jovic was just weak on that occasion, the defender barely touched him, for me it wasn't even a foul.

@Akashnai, I wouldn't call it offside on mayoral either, but it seems like this season hands are included for offside calls and if you look closely his hand looks like to be the furthest from both players. As for the red I think it was a foul since jovic was running fast and a slight touch would put him off balance. At least var is not as bad as PL's though so we have that lol
