I still remember how Hector Moreno from PSV broke luke shaws leg in the box in 2015. He didn't even get a card nor did united get a penalty for that, just because he got the ball first and then flew in. Moreno went on scoring in this game and PSV won, thanks to which they in the end went through in the group and united fell out. Shaws career could have been over basicly as a 20year old rising star.
To give a red card in these situations is now common just to make sure players don't recklessly fly in to these tackles. Nobody wants to get a red card and it is like a caoution method to keep bad tackles from happening Every single player knows that and they don't want something like this happening to themselves too. So nothing to blame the ref for imo. (you may think different)

The 3 points is very important for Leeds United rather than Manchester City

What a meltdown from Man City. They’re lucky they have a big lead.

Made me want to gouge out my eyes. It's painful to see Mendy so futile. I hate when we get frustrated and start simply pinging in crosses. Who's getting on the end of those? Sterling? Bernardo? Jesus? Of course not! Hats off to Leeds, Dallas is a dirty dog.

This is the best result of the season out of all Premier league matches. Beating the champions away from home with 10 men, incredible

Justice for Leeds because that was never a red card.

How the game has changed.. not so while back this would have been a proper tackle and now even after winning the ball clearly the defender gets a red.. never a red in my opinion.

Yes, that's right. but we don't want players to break their legs too, do we? That's why it's changed.

Did he? It was a coming together with Jesus charging in.. 50-50 tackle.. as a defender was he not supposed to try and get the ball??

Theres a valid argument for it being a red or a yellow so I dont think the referee made a mistake

There wasn't excessive force in the tackle so a follow through like this never deserves a red card
