It's not a pen. It's a disgrace to the game of football. I understand that pens are given even if a movement to deny a goal scoring opportunity is unintentional. What is Trent supposed to do? Levitate of the ground and out of the way on a magic carpet? Have a shaft open up in the grass for him to sink into? He has made no movement. No body tilt, no arm movement and not a leg or foot, even if he didn't know what's behind him. Calvert Lewin has fallen over him without any proactive movement by Trent to facilitate the fall. Absolute and utter embarrassment to the game of football to give that as a penalty. No logic or common sense applied.

You need to go back to how TAA ended up in that position. He made a failed attempt at blocking the ball and that was his mistake, so yes he couldve not been in Calvert Lewins way. It was one of the easiest penalty calls

Liverpool got so many penalties where basically no one even touched Salah and he fell like some sniper shot him (in this match as well, in past match against City even got a penalty for that). I don't think this is a penalty but if you're giving penalties for every soft touch against Salah, then this is what you deserve.

@Bypass. 1. Calvert Lewin is coming from behind Trent and Trent can't see him for that 'trip' to be anything more than accidental. 2. Calvert Lewin is already falling before making contact with Trent's foot - having already kneed Trent just below the neck.

Not sure how we can blame var when in this case, he actually went over to look at the monitor. But he barely looked at the screen for 5 seconds, before turning round and giving the pen. Just seen another one given for Rashford vs Newcastle. These penalty decisions are pure comedy.
