Anyone who doesn't see the progress Arsenal is making under Arteta is blind. We all know Arsenal can't go toe to toe with Liverpool or it will be game over in the first half so defending is the only option for Arsenal and hit us on the break. Arsenal were pretty much in the game until the 3rd goal which came very late so yeah they played well it's just we were better.

I can understand why they would have played that way in the first 35 mins. The trick is to slow down the game and tire down the impulsive Salah and Mane. Because, Liverpool goes off to a flying start always and everyone hates it to be at the receiving end.
The team can calmly go back at half time and wait for the fresh tactics from the manager. They clearly had the plan for the second half and it almost worked out if Laca lashed the shot to goal. It didn't and the goal threat was always there

That's a load of bs and you know it. The sooner you come to terms with it a better person you will become. LiVARpool was lucky. That's all there is to it. Mane should have gotten a red card for that elbow on Tierney but since it's LiVARpool, the premier leagues golden boy he was let off with a slap on the hand.

Liverpool looked solid. They were a better side but Arsenal did play well in such circumstances. Arteta is doing a great job. Arsenal did have chances to score more goals so we can't complain about tactics.
I didn't enjoy Mane being aggressive at the start, but overall it was a good game and congrats to Liverpool.

Hard to win a game when the ref favours LiVARpool. Mane should have been sent off

After Aubameyang got that new contract he's been shit

I think that's because with the signing of the contract, he basically mentally accepted himself to mediocrity. Maybe the clubs he thought would come forward never did, so it was better to sit tight, take the money and then retire. Wasted career!

Not easy? Liverpool finished the first half with 11 attempts on goal to arsenal's 1? Arsenal barely had possession. The arsenal goal came from a woeful Liverpool mistake. In the second half, jota alone could've had a hat trick. I understand it not being easy breaking down a bus being parked, but arsenal did virtually nothing positive for most of the game. Willian hardly got a touch whilst Aubameyang was left feed on crumbs.

I didn't see the bus at all. It is only natural to put bodies behind the ball and defend rather than caught ahead of the pitch
0
milanlamiavita 4 years ago
Bustese Milano City, Italy 4 3418
the first 35 minutes, arsenal had every player in their own half for pretty much 95% of the time. If that isn't parking the bus, then I don't know what is. If Burnley played like that, 'anti football' bs would be doing the rounds.

The golden rule in football is 'survive till HT'.
The rest will be taken care by the manager. The strategies and tactics open up in second half looking at each other's strengths and weaknesses, and using the three subs judiciously.

Wenger whilst not finishing on a high was supposed to have established a culture at arsenal. A style. How Arteta is getting arsenal setup spits in the face of the so called established culture. If it was a burnley or stoke city playing like that, fair enough.
2
srk_rox 4 years ago
Liverpool 5 542
I think Wenger is a person of values. Values which would not win titles but would make the fans get off the seats. That's why he would never be Mourinho.
Mourinho has that street smartness and thinking on the split second. Understanding the dynamics of the game and making the subs decision had never been a forte of Wenger.
Arteta doesnt have any necessity to stick on to the established culture. Wenger ship and his culture has sailed with him. He has to start a new era

Yes and that style was getting arsenal hammered 5 or 6 goals by the top teams and losing to small teams we were expected to beat.

Looks like correct to me.. it’s going to be back to back league titles. Liverpool was too strong today even though arsenal played really good today especially they defended deep and organized. Liverpool has too much quality and plus they’ve a strong bench this year to compete in all 3 major trophies this year. I can see Liverpool easily going to SF in CL.

Time and time again, top clubs prove that you don't have to defend with 11 men to win matches. You don't have to be dire not to concede. You defend as a team and attack as a team. Seeing Aubameyang and Willian isolated like the way they were last night was incomprehensible. Arsenal's problem is that they don't have a midfield. Believe me, I know the feeling. For 5 years plus, Milan didn't have a midfield that could control a football and look to be constructive with it.

We know our midfield is dire at the moment lacking creative spark or defensive bark. That's why we are still in the transfer market for aouar or Thomas party. Only time will tell.

A game like yesterday's cried out for Torreira. You know he would've given tooth and nail and fought for everything. Yet he wasn't even in the match day squad. Why? I'm not sure how much it would take to get Partey off Atleti, but he was on the bench at the weekend. Regardless, one player won't fix it all.

We deserved a draw for holding up to this amazing Liverpool team... Laca miss and clear handball goal from Jotta made the difference I don't expect much from VAR, but how come the commentators say nothing too?! he controlled it with his hand, clearly... Still alot to improve but we are on the right tracks. Facing Liverpool early will make all the players who played today stronger and more determined.

Woah.. Liverpool had to work hard today. Haven't they? The game kept swaying from one side to the other until Jota came and sealed it up.

Jota is gelling well into the team as well. He can come at 15-20 minutes remaining in the game and make a great impact.

I can finally breathe I was sweating from the ass the whole ninety minutes. When did Arsenal become so difficult to breakdown? Arteta is doing a wonderful job considering the squad he's working with. He's punching above his weight.

So happy for Diogo Jota to get a debut goal after Mo screwed it up for him. The lads were brilliant they ran their asses off from start to finish. Another three points in the bag against a tough opponent.

Arteta doing great job yes, especially in defending. They organized well. But you cant just defend in full 90 mins to win the game. As i said before, in 343 formation usually teams wants to attak and play possesion based games. But they cant. They forced to sit down at their end. Its just klopp and his boys stomping around with full motivation not like 2 previous matches they play against.

Liverpool ended the first half with 68% possession. they also had 11 attempts on goal to arsenal's 1. And you thought arsenal were going to win? ffs, could you come out with more ridiculous statements?

@milanlamiavita he just stated for what has happen for this EPL week. Mancity lost to leicester. Brighton to manutd.. Possession team lost this week.. That could happen to liverpool too.. But we have our attacking trident to break any defensive wall.. So cheers..

But those teams actually tried to play. Arsenal spent pretty much the entire first half camped in their own half. and this wasn't some structured and organised sitting and then being aggressive in a press or engaging. A lot of the time, Liverpool would have to get into the area before arsenal would engage. Case in point the last goal. Jota could've had a cup of tea and a slice of cake before he was going to be closed down. I feel a little for arteta. I think he's trying to instil structure into the players, but it just isn't in their makeup to be aggressive and organised.

not sure mate, first half you were all over us and it could have been 5:0 easily. Luiz, Holding and Xhaka were absolutely lost.

Willian and Auba played like beasts. If Pepe were brought in at 60' for Laca, I think the game could have been drawn.
For all these years, Arsenal used to have a disastrous defense. All of a sudden, it was well-organised. Luiz didn't make howlers. Now, this is called progress under the new manager.
Liverpool had to work hard to squeeze out the space for scoring goals.

They have organized defend, its true thats what arteta did. But u can see salah run so freely 2-3 times or more in 1st half but leno did well. Thats not what u expect as a manager who wants to play defensive.

I'm triggered, same result as last season, I dont care that we seemed tougher, the score is what counts. Liverpool wouldve probably beaten any team playing like that but we didn't show our attacking strength. Ceballos was the player we missed in the first half
