Gotta love that signal from Kroos to Vinicius before that pass. MOTM Valverde, didn't put a foot wrong. Well, technically he slipped once but that's not his fault. What a player he's turning into. Ramos needs to stop being greedy with the free kicks, I can understand him taking penalties, he's pretty good at them but how does he get to take free kicks ahead of Kroos?!

Amazing game from Real! Good way to bounce back from that loss. And courtois what a save, 3 crucial saves!!!

Barca was slightly the better side in the first half. RM was much better than Barca in the second half.

Valverde might be gone, but I saw little of impressive management from Barca. Vidal should have stayed on the pitch.

Overall a fair result.

A whole lot of Real Madrid players stepped up their performance today especially in the 2nd Half.

In the 1st half, Courtois really kept us in the game.
But in the 2nd half, Vinicuis, Kroos, Vervaldes, VARANE!, casemiro were all amazing.
Even Marcelo and carvajal were very technically accurate in their attacking and depending. I was impressed.

Now, Zidane can see that benching Kroos at home against City was a terrible idea. I hope he has some tricks up his sleeves for the return leg, cos we need that trophy.

I believe this real madrid side can beat any team becos of its versatility. But inconsistency is our becos issue.

Real Madrid took the game to Barcelona in the second half. Barcelona were slightly the better team in the first half, but Zidane probably realized they can caused serious panic in Barca defence if they have a real go in the second half, hence the chaotic defending from Barcelona in the second half. They were clearing shots from goal line and Ter Stegen was the busier of the two keepers for most of the second half and this 2-0 result don't tell the whole story how relentless and rampant Real Madrid were in the second half. Barcelona looked so toothless upfront and my boy Messi, looked about as effective as the spectators watching from the highest of the tiers.

Honestly speaking, I am not surprised or upset. Because I knew or predicted before the match that Barca will lose in El-Clasico and this is what happens. What you expect from current shitty Barca board aka Jose Bartomeu. They fired shit coach and has hired another shit coach so-called Setiens. What I understand from tonight match that Real Madrid is a complete team not like Barca as they rely on Messi only. When Messi flop then the entire team flops. And of course, I am sure Barca can't win UCL. Maybe the trophyless season for Barca is loading. Really I am missing my old Barca.

He's just channeling his disappointment, really. A lot of people do that when their team is performing far less than expected. At least he's not blaming others.

They didn't want to sell but were forced to sell him. Kepa was just a panic buy.

Guess you dont remember the snake forcing our hands to move to Real Madrid then ? Same like the idiots who blamed Chelsea and Conte for Diego Costa departure when we all know Costa wanted to go back.

On the first goal of Real, you see the great vision of Kroos, how he is showing Vinicius Junior where to run and then make a delightful through ball!

If I see anyone saying Griezmanm needs time to succeed with Barca, I say with all due respect fuck off! Him constantly going from left to right screwed everything up. He kept coming in the way of Messi and Vidal. Instead of dragging players away from Messi to create spaces the jackass kept getting close to the other forwards. If we had started with Braithwaite I believe at least of the many chances Barca had would have gone in, and also they would have been much more organized going forward. Really surprised Setien kept him in for that long. Arthur and DJong should swap position. We've always seen both perform better the opposite of today's positions. RM's defense was all over the place and they proving way too many holes for Barca to expose, but there was Greiz to save the day. Gratz RM.

He is suppose to lead the forward line isn't it ? I saw him going wide countless times and expecting Messi to take his place. Suarez would never do that ! Barcelona would have won this game if they had Suarez ! Waste of buy

We're talking about a $120m 28 years old guy and that's what many don't consider when talking about him. Even though Dembele was a panic signing at least in his first season he showed some glimpses of being something special despite all the injuries. This club has become a big mess under this board.

Good game, intense but there could be more chances created. Real was compact fluid and totally deserved. Messi looked tired, too early to judge anything, but Barca looked slow, and they dont shoot from distance anymore...

Valverde is better than Setien. At least there was some kind of a purpose to his tactics this guy's only tactic is to pass aimlessly in his own half until they lose the ball. Messi spent most of the time in the midfield than in the opposition's penalty box.

Griezmann is useless once again might as well have started Braithwaite. RM were more direct and had a purpose in their attacks. They deserved the victory.

Barca has many chances to score. Not Setien's fault really. Everything else I agree. Especially Griezmanm.

How can you say that after that second half? How many times did they just pass it around and come back all the way to the CBs and do the same again until Madrid figured it out and didn't allow them to get out their own half?

If I hadn't seen Setien's style and how his former teams played I would probably agree. However, since Valverde took over from Enrique the physical level of Barca became non existent which he himself said that he didn't care about the physical preparation. The players are talented yet slow and sloppy. Almost any team can manage to out muscle Barca. There was no way Barca players could go head to head battle with RM's midfield with that slow pace of passing. Berca always outperformed teams by simply quick passing and through balls, and most importantly quick off the ball movement which is non existent from Barca these days. It's going to take major changes and time to get players moving again and one season won't be enough.

For your sake and Barca fans, I hope you're right. I still think things will get far worse for Barca before they get better and you probably know this better than I do, but as long as that board is in charge your club will remain lame. There are many players in the Barca squad that are ageing and they haven't been replaced yet. More than half of your starting 11 are at the age of 30 or over.

Oh yeah, you're absolutely right on that. Things will get worse and to add to what you mentioned is also the big and almost unmanageable egos in the team. For the sake of Messi's legacy I really hope he goes to a stable team and win some more trophies, but I doubt he'll want to leave. With the new board should also start a new post Messi era.

I don't think it matters if he wins more trophies his legacy is safe he will go down as one of the greats and in the minds of many as the GOAT.

He was bad in the first half. He makes good runs and is fast but his passing in the final third is not that good. He's young so he has a lot to learn and what better coach to learn from than Zidane. He has a bright future I hope he fulfils it.

@VegPot - I've seen him take several free kicks in actual matches for a long time now and they were all poor attempts. So was the one he hit in this match. Anyone with common sense should know when the free kick is that close to the edge of the box, you can't hit it over the wall with that much power and still get the ball to dip in time. With that much power, he was always going to either hit the wall or sky it high. Toni Kroos is by far the better free kick taker, it's a no brainer.
@xumeey - I have to disagree, I don't think he was bad at all in the first half.
