I'm a Liverpool / Klopp supporter, but even I don't agree with the VAR decision regarding offside. In the past, we sometimes saw erroneous offside decisions with people being several feet on or off side. Now every millimeter is supposed to count? That's a bit much... I don't think this is helping the game. Very soon, we'll be switching to a stop clock if we have to stop every single time a decision needs to be double checked with VAR... :-(

To be fair, Liverpool also had that kind of goals disallowed of inch offside. But indeed very good performance by Wolves and unlucky with the disallowed goal. Well, VAR was requested also by fans back in the days.

This is ridiculus, why is armpit the standard on offsides and not hips for instance. Imo there should just be a pic or two in 2D and judge it by the eye, this crossair thing they do needs to go. Fair play to wolfs, var is a mess, thankfully when this shit happens to us we've pulled through and won but when you lose an entire game bc of some armpit thing that takes 5min to examine. Almost wish it had been a draw...almost.

We all wanted VAR, yes, and still, we do. What we didn't want was stupid refereeing and we still don't.
It is not the fault of technology but the thick heads that are actually using the technology. In fact, I am surprised that they even figured out how to use the microphone to talk to the onfield referee, to be honest.

These bastards use technology and show us replays but still blatantly fix matches! Sons of whores. I genuinely don’t care who wins EPL if it isn’t Chelsea who are challenging it. Yet, Liverpool doesn’t need this kind of help! They can do just fine without it!

This proves the ref wants LiVARpool to win the title.

If you will count 1mm offside you should count 1mm handball .. Var in epl is really confusing.

Var in general. In every league. As long as there is huge money involved, football will never be clean/fair.

LiVARpool strikes again tell me why Wolves goal was overruled. and how was that not a handball on Van Dijk in the build up to their goal. it should atleast have been a draw.
No hate just facts. !

Its fair, var made everything fair and square. Although a bit too much for such an armpit or just a butt inch offside, but thats the rule dude. You guys just never expect it coming right? This happen with all team, even with livarpool. Kudos to wolves that successfully silent our playmaker (taa and robbo), great job by vinagre and all wolves player and also with our backline. Great game!

Well indeed. But remember in a lot of case, the armpit offside can depend a lotttttt on the milisecond they pause the image.

These just ruin the excitement of football

Both VAR decision are correct. What are Wolves angry for?

The only problem is PGMO chairman Mike Riley is still trying his best to help ManUtd.

It’s fans from every team actually. VAR is better than before but the spirit of the game is fading a bit. Also at what point do they stop the image when the ball is hit? That’s also hard to tell.

I doubt that its hard to isolate the video of the player who passed the ball and freeze it when he touched it. The only controversy is the fans of small teams want the referees to help them with their wrong decisions. VAR has been a success

These referees really need to take some extra class for VAR. It spoils the excitement of an authentic game. Wolves deserve that goal, they need to know offside are not all well intended position themselves into offside and many of the times are due to quick reaction of player. Is just bs..

VAR ruined this game. Thrilling match. Hat off to the Wolf. Liverpool was helped. The first goal, the long ball from Van Dijk started the goal, but he had a clear clumsy hand ball, i dont know why the heck noone check that. The 2nd goal, this kind of armpit offside decision is ridiculous!!!

Guys, check the goal, the handball is NOT from Lallana (it was the shoulder), but before that, from Van Dijk, the direct build up of the goal.

The offside in this way very depending on the millisecond they paused to calculate. I dont have a complain there on the decision but i just hate this kind of offside call.

@tuan_jinn That wasn't a handball either in the buildup. Check this out and see for yourself. https://twitter.com/6timeskhalid/status/1211660799049183238?s=20

@xumeey: uhmn, even that wasn't clear enough, because of the angle.. On Ziggo Sport (the Netherlands channel) we saw it live and they put a lot of angles to it. It showed handball at the time from the side direction. I have to agree it's quite hard to find it back as the internet is bombarded with the same unclear picture.

We can't deduce anything from a still image because of optical illusion. I showed you a moving picture and if you still can't tell if it's a handball or not then we have to go with the on-field ref.

I think putting in some actual high speed cameras for the VAR instead of these mere 60 FPS ones (so you can freeze the video at just the right millisecond) would be an obvious first fix that can be implemented whenever. Then they also need to double down on where exactly the arm stops and the shoulder begins for the sake of drawing lines

Alternatively they can just say that if an offside call is so close that you can't tell with the naked eye if someone is onside or offside when looking at the replay, then they should just let it pass. Only problem is then people will be complaining about when it's "close enough to let go" and not instead...
