Atkinson yet again proving how incompetent he is with that red card. Son's tackle didn't directly cause Gomez's injury.

Son with both his hand on his head looks like he super glued it to his head and is crying because he can't get it off

Come on Son. You're better than that. That type of behaviour I expected from Ramos. Also him shedding those crocodile tears really doesn't help his case at all. Would have wanted him to play for Chelsea one day but not anymore.

after watching the full highlights (elsewhere) son shoulda received a yellow card for that flop, beforehand. then the question of whether that tackle was a red or not is moot.
the BPL needs to fix VAR. its ridiculous that the referee is encouraged not to check up on the screen, it is getting ridiculous

Sidenote, thank god we dont have iwobi anymore.. in just one set of highlights the amount of times that he lost the ball then spurs were able to go on a goalscoring opportunity is scary.

can we never get highlights from the club's own highlights again? they don't show anything or they are biased (which is to be expected), im here for highlights as the first thing, but with highlights like this i will have to search elsewhere for the rest of the highlights of the game.. disappointing.

I got notified about Andre's injury. I was horrified instantly when I saw it. No player should have to go through an injury like that. He was our former player too man. I was very happy when he was getting the respect he deserved and this happens. Wish you a very speedy recovery andre. :( Also I don't see how that is completely Son's fault. Although he did tackle but it was more of a bad landing. But still. really hope he will get back on the pitch soon.

Sure he might not have done amazing for us (when he's in form hes a beast) but everyone deserves respect. Get that in your head mate.

Son since the Liverpool game was showing signs of reckless playing . I think a red card was not enough today and 3 game ban is a joke. He should get more ban and a huge fine.Andre...hope you recover soon.

A longer ban??? Why? Even though Gomes get badly injured as a result of the tackle it doesn't mean that Son did it intentionally and it wasn't even the original tackle that injured him it was the collision afterwards.

Chelsea, Thailand 0 86
I don't know if you have sth against Son, but after watching the replay multiples times it was not the tackle itself that injured Gomes directly but the wrong landing. It is not like the case of Martin Taylor's tackle on Silva. That guy, he, tackled entirely on Silva's ankle but this one is totally different.
Please be fair with Son.
PS. I am not saying that Son was not responsible for Gomes' injury but the action of the tackle was not intended to harm Gomes but was aimed to win the ball back.

The tackle was horrific. 45 degree angle from behind, while at pace.... red agreed. I been a player and had my ankle broken very similar to this it's ridiculous really.
Not only did he clip the other guys ankles before, but then seeked to win the ball back by launching himself. Either you win those tackles or your off these day's.
Additional time for red... debatable but possible.

This tackle is similar to the Choudary tackle on Mo Salah and Salah didn't break his leg(fortunately) and Choudary only received a yellow for a tactical foul. The inconsistent refereeing is off the charts in the prem.

I'm done with VAR. VAR has become the biggest joke and waste of time for everybody. How was that not a penalty against Dele Ali? So many poor VAR decisions.
1

I assume they judged that it came off the Everton player's shoulder (don't remember who it was) rather than Alli's hand. Or at least that it was too hard to say for sure in order to overturn the original decision. Reminded me a bit of the Llorente handball situation against City in the UCL last season. Personally I thought it looked more to hit Alli's fist but it wasn't entirely obvious
2
xumeey 6 years ago

I don't know which angle you saw it from but it clearly hits Ali's hand and if the VAR ref didn't have a clear angle then that just makes the incompetence use of VAR even worse.

You need to spend time watch old shitty ref performances to appreciate VAR enough, at least to realize its very new and there will be room for improvements.

@Pelle I'm a huge fan of VAR and was an advocate of VAR last season when we didn't have it and people were debating over it but the way it's used in the EPL is an absolute joke. The same old shitty refs are behind VAR and making it even worse now that we have the technology. The last Liverpool game the same ref in this game disallowed an onside goal with VAR. The FA has admitted they made clear errors with VAR. I don't want VAR to be removed but at the moment it's making the game less fair, less enjoyable and more frustrating for the fans.

Im sure they will evaluate everything after the season and make changes, for the better. I have had my issues with it too...

The fact that they won't allow the refs to look at the on-field screens makes my head explode. They waste everybody's time by repeating the same angle over and over again. It's so frustrating at the moment. I hope it gets better.
