Woah! What a fight and mentality by Frankfurt. Really looking forward to the upcoming semi-final against Chelsea.

I am a Sporting fan, but i have too say Benfica did not deserve to be robbed like that.
who cares if Frankfurt played better?
The game should be fair and Frankfurt 1 goal was a mile offside...

benfica were poor on both legs really. so on that note even though the offside is clear and unfair and probably we had been through unless, we played shit. crap strategy and mentality from players who thought they would just sail through

That is unfortunately one of the problems with our game and how results are interpreted despite clear errors. The German side could've had 100 shots on goal and could've had 90 percent possession. But an offside is an offside. I even heard a commentator say 'Benfica didn't lose through an offside goal. They lost because they conceded two goals at home despite the opposition having a player sent off in the first leg.' What utter nonsense. But this is how football is I'm afraid. We make reasoning to support clear errors. It's ridiculous. The hypocrisy is VAR being available in one European competition and not the other. There cannot be equality and fairness when different competitions are officiated differently. It's just ridiculous.

Yeah, you're right about the offside goal but Benfica should've also "played". They absolutely did nothing to deserve to go through. Frankfurt well deserved it.

Var in operation in champions league but not the europa league! How does that make any sense ffs?? Three players standing in an offside position and yet the blind as a bat linesman misses it?

I think it might have to do with the process of implementing it (i.e only certain refs and stadia have the training for it).

Agreed. Went to see a Benfica match when I was in Lisbon and he was one of the worst one the pitch. He maybe has good games but in my opinion he is not one of the top top talents

The next 'bread and butter'? What language is that a direct translation from lol? In English, the saying is 'the best thing since sliced bread'!

So despite scoring a hat trick in the first leg and his team only being knocked out thanks to a blind linesman, that makes him overrated? Would he still be over hyped and overrated had the second frankfurt goal had been rightly disallowed, and Benfica had gone through? Are you stupid or just trolling?

Hahaha numpty likes to focus on others English skills like it's some type of exam I'm writing. That hat trick was one of the worst hat tricks I've witnessed. A penalty, a shot the keeper bottled and should've saved at his near post then a tap in in addition against 10 men. So I suggest you stop trolling and stfu

Lol Frankfurt didn't show anything special tonight. They are just an average team who only got through because of an offside goal. Europa League are lacking VAR.

It was certainly offside - no doubt VAR is needed. And I understand your disappointment but I never said that they played special. Just said that they showed great mentality and fought hard. Also, the fans were amazing (like always).

@MrFatso What are you talking about. Frankfurt was clearly the better team, Benfica only defeated them at home because they played with 10 men. PS. as Benfica fan you shouldn’t complain because many times Benfica went through because of refs.

@Polakowo "many times" Oh don't make me laugh mate, in which game in Europe was Benfica ever helped by the ref ?

Frankfurt were the better team overall, it sucks to lose but if it wasnt for Ndicka red I think the previous game would have been a lot different. Hold on to Felix and sell Seferovic, he has a bad attitude.

MrFatso 5 years ago
Benfica, Portugal 1 259
@SuperMilan The problem with Seferovic is that he isn't clinical enough in front of goal. In the first leg he missed a clear chance when he was isolated in front of the goalkeeper. If he scored it would make it 5-1 and it would be the "auf wiedersehen" for Frankfurt to the Europa League.
