I think Argentina are just not capable of producing a team... They produce star players but they need to be the Magician beside Europeans who work their asses off... Not saying there are no European magicians... But no there are no Argentinians who are strong physically, mentally resliant, consistent team players... Being able to produce great passes and having amazing vision dosen't make you a good team player. I'm afraid it's gonna take them a long time to get rid of this losing atmosphere... Probably after Messi... I'm sad to acknowledge this because I love Argentina...

I have come to conclusion that mess is just a player with legendary skills. But no character and and leadership. He cant talk to his players, hence he better step down from captaincy. (No one in this team is a proper captain anyway).
And argentina doesnt have a federation. Their choice of managers and coaches in the last 10 years speaks for itself.
Just enjoy messi's individual highlights and stop expecting more. Yes he doesnt have an amazing team but he also lacks leadership.

I look at colombia's squad and i dont see any department that they are better than argentina.
Its all about an architect building a team and getting the best out of everyone. Not about having best players.

@ArthurMorgan - I think every team with strong tall and determined players with half decent ball control can be a problem for any overly confident team that is "packed with talent"... Talent is overrated in football..
So in my eyes yes, the important things in footbal are (and in this order)l:
1. Manager (training and dressing room atmoshpere)
2. Defensive midfielder
3. Fullbacks that are quick and strong but also not idiots.
4. Managment
5. The entire team defends with all their hearts..
6. talent.....

Why is it a requirement to be tall and strong. This isn't nba where you need height may be apart from goalkeepers and centre backs and strength hahahaha this isn't world strongest man competition or wwe that you need strength. The best full backs in the world for sure don't have much strength ( Robertson, Arnold, alba, Marcelo, carvajal, alaba, kimmich , cancelo ) etc some prime examples of weak full backs. If height was so important then how did one of the best teams ever compete with midgets referring to Barcelona 2009-2011 with the likes of Messi, iniesta , xavi, Pedro, villa, puyol, alves, mascherano, and even the goalkeeper Valdez was small at 6 foot

Yes messi lacks captaincy. But what that has to do with his skills as a footballer? Use your brain when you say sometging.
If he achieved something in barça its because he had a good team (same with all winners). And FYI, the whole world knows that barça is a piece of nothing without messi, same with argentina
