Man, how is Dani Alves a free agent, MOTM for me. What a performance. Whoever is voting for Jesus, didn't see the match. Dani Alves and Casemiro were the best in this match. top class performance from both

VAR was used million times in group stage but how the referee didn't use it on the Arthur tackle on Otamendi in the box, you can have a look (https://streamable.com/1elgw), this is clean penalty. Same with Alves foul on Aguero before Brazil 2nd goal (https://streamable.com/5awx0), joke refereeing.

Messi always had a reason to show the world that the failure is not because of him ,

He resigns
He criticize pitch ,
he criticize opponent ,
he criticize his own team/team mates
He criticize referee
He criticize federation ,

and everybody knows he was not at all deserved 2014 world cup golden ball ,..

what a hypocrite he is

You can't measure who deserved and who did not just by the terms- giving it all or playing well, instead, you measure it by making a difference; which Messi couldn't make, again.

Almost everyone gives their all in a game like this and a lot of players deliver their A game; So everyone deserves to win a trophy? No.

Noone should say anything bad about Messi, actually noone can due to his abilities, nor anyone should be blinded by choice. Defending him time after time and blaming his colleagues without 0 consideration makes me cringe, makes me laugh.

Maybe I'm biased, but not blinded, at least.

Look at this clear penalty.

If you do not use VAR in this situations, its worthless.

Lionel Messi will go down as the greatest player to ever play the beautiful sport that is football. I guarantee that the day he retire will be converted to a global wide holiday

He's only good around Barca players, without their system he's trash, he can't adapt.

@iveroon You either don't understand football or have no common sense, no one who is bad with one team, can take the team to 4 finals. your argument is absurd and dumb.

Hats off to Otamendi's agent, how he manages to play for a top club and the National team being such a crappy defender is beyond me, he should be playing for Godoy Cruz or some club of that sort.

honestly we played really well. not taking away from brazil's goals (which were nice), we had our chances to tie the game. ref was obviously paid under the table, but what can you do...brazil is the host. big future for the youngsters tbh.

it means that you accept than when you re a host you have referee preference like in 1978 when you won your first world cup playing in Argentina, as a host

Argentina msut try to stop rebuilding and start BUILDING. There were finally hints of good chemistry and understanding among the squad, and Messi seemed to enjoy there as well. Now they need a few more pieces, and voilà! They are competing for the big price again.
biggest needs:
1- CDM midfield was really soft, althoug they run a lot.
2- One CB to replace Otamendi, who was disastrous all this tournament.
3- One tried and trusted centre forward to be deployed alongside Lautaro Martinez, so they can play in 4-4-2 formation with Messi in the CAM spot. Maybe it's Icardi, I don't know...

I knew about the Aguero foul, but that Otamendi one is WILD! You can see both Arthur and Casemiro prepare to body him, but Arthur just puts all that momentum against him. With how often all the matches were previously stopped for VAR, its absolute BS that they just continued dismissing it last night.

Some people have an unlimited supply of 'Defend Messi at any cost' quotes. Funny and frustrating at the same time.

This is exactly why Mbappe won the world cup for those that keep defending him by bringing his World Cup victory whenever he's bashed. Let Messi play for Brazil or France. He would of had multiple world cups. Alisson was fucking crazy in this match what a goalkeeper he really is damn Brazil finally found the next Júlio César in his prime.

I don't understand some comments here... Brazil dominated all along, deserved victory, nothing to say. Argentina was not horrible, but brazil was better for sure. Brazil is clear favourite to win the cup (I mean I though it was Uruguay before so who knows :)...)

Messi is nine-month absence from argentina national team, and all his fans hope he will win copa america with this new teammates, new manager, new coaches. Delusional. Blame him for not giving all to argentina team, how can he take a rest for 9 fuc**ing months after world cup, when Copa America will be held in June, I cant understand his logic. I think he love barcelona more than argentina.

You understand nothing. Messi left his NT because there were many journalists and media in his country saying he was theone choosing the coaches and the team. so he left, and did not return until the team and the coaches were already there so no one could speak that trash.

so sad that such a huge game was tainted by the refereeing. I saw this ref earlier in the competition and thought he was questionable to say the least. Argentina pulled their act together for this game and were unlucky. However, Brazil are simply further forward in their development as a team and it showed tonight (and i do think theyre better without neymar). Looking forward to seeing them face each other again some other time when argentina get a good group of players together and hit form in time for the match.

The fact that the referee didn't use VAR is beyond me. At least, he should review Otamendi's incident. Arthur didn't go for the ball.

Anyway, Brazil was very clinical. 2 quick counter attacks, 2 goals. It's not that Argentina played poor. In this game I could see clearly that the weakness is its defence.

Pretty bad referring, 1st goal there should have been review on Alves when first took the ball. He might've pushed the other player on the pitch. On the second goal Alves tripped aguero in the penalty box and I think that deserved at a review. Then, there was an incident where Arthur shouldered otamendi on his chest. I think that was a clear penalty since Arthur didn't have any interest in the ball and went straight for otamendi, and that too didn't get reviewed. In the first half few Argentina players deserved yellow cards, but they got away with it. Messi's second direct free kick should've been a foul for Brazil not the other way around. Ok that's enough.
