France has the likes of Mbappé and Griezemann for the goalscoring but Giroud brings another kind of needed quality. He is good as target player, strong, good in the air, and works hard, even defensively. Maybe the thing with Chelsea is that they don't have that goal-machine to whom Giroud be a wingman to. The expectations on him are different due to the structure of the team.

They're born in France, and they're French citizens. For most of them French is their first language. They're French, the country their grandparents were born in doesn't change that. People only complain because France is the best team in the world right now - you don't see people complaining about the Australian team being full of people with Slavic and Greek names.

Ok then: France dominated the 1st half, Kanté absolutely monstruous as usual, Griezmann much more active than vs Germany. Only a few misunderstandings in attack between M'Bappé and Griezmann prevented the score from being more than 1-0 at half time. Only 10 minutes of Dutch domination but no real danger. The 2nd half was more Dutch but the French defense was imperial as always, with Varane especially impressive. A first occasion and then a goal after the French failed to send the ball away properly. France reacted immediately and dominated the rest of the match without any other serious occasion. Good performance overall, but many players look tired compared to the WC.
