even though its just a friendly, this is a stinker for portugal. for a team they always had an upper hand historically if they were going to loose a game to them then this one okay. lessons learned for santos atleast. fonte is just plain slow and not up to the pace, gomes also too slow and the biggest flaw for them was andre silva at the centre of the pitch. not even half the man he used to be 2 years ago.

Yep a neccessary wake up call. Well 2 years ago it was a strange, and great team tactic. Remember you guys didn't have any win and crawled to the 16.... Fought hard and defend well, with ultra defend tactic and great counter + some brilliant moment of Ronaldo. They weren't much better than now, but more humble and more united.!

Terrible game for Portugal. Ronaldo asked to be subbed (gave the coach sign) when he saw a deadend and no more opportunity. And he was subbed out. Even though this is a friendly, he took the glory in Egypt game and did this when the team was shaking, i dont think that was nice, although i can understand why he did that, but he should let the coach did it himself. Not sure who is the coach anymore. At the end of the day, it's just a friendly game anyway

well, not all true. Ronaldo was still as passionate and tried to score, in this game he didn't have the service to thrive (like in Real) and he failed, the team failed. Not important but I was hoping for a much better attitude.

And Gomez and Fonte were pretty dreadful... I hope they fix it fast before the World Cup.

Theres a difference between 0-1 and 0-3... I see no wrong in getting subed in a friendly game that is lost. Even if he asks for it.

@Pelle: sure, to be honest. I would do the same, and I think most star would do that too. But doesn't mean it's a good thing. Im just disappointing in his way of doing this in his own stadium, but like I said, I understand. (just my opinion since Im a big supporter and live in the Netherlands, watch the game). You also saw many fans ran down to the pitch for him.

@Pelle: sure, Im just disappointing in his way of doing this in his own country, but like I said, I understand. (just my opinion since Im a big supporter and live in the Netherlands)/ I was expecting a nice match and and looking forward to see him playing especially after all the praises after last game against Egypt and became the top score for national teams. He deserved his praise but in the other way deserved critics too. The dive, the attitude and asked to sub-off when the game didn't go well. While staying the whole match against Egypt probably built up my frustration. I also didn't like to see Portugal played like that.

Anthony Lopes is a pure shit. Shit for Lyon, shit for country. Always disappears against big teams. Thats why Portugal deserved to lose.

I gotta say, CR7's headers are so fucking dangerous. I remember he said "one weak point I have is my heading and I want to improve it a lot" 4 years ago, well CR7 you have really improved it.

After this WC Portugal will go through the same transition as Netherlands, tough times ahead but at least this generation won the Euro, for the first time in their history.

I know it's just a friendly but you still play with some old players, this is the last WC with Quaresma, Moutinho and Ronaldo but like I said this generation got the Euro Championship that's amazing.

Some might, but I feel the new blood deserved their qualification over those that were probably over confident in their security on the world stage.
Just as the winner of a league deserves it for consistency over many games, so do those that manage to pass through the qualification process.

These teams weren't up to the challenge this year and I'm looking forward to seeing teams like Peru, Denmark and Iceland have their time to shine :)
