I kinda saw this coming in light of recent results but of course I'm still pretty happy with this. Beating Italy is not something we do very often exactly after all. Not sure it'll be enough to get through over two legs though but at least we've done everything we can

On the other hand I would still want to see Buffon end his career at the 2018 world cup so if Italy manages to come back... well I'm okay with that too

Honestly, we didn't play worse or better than Sweden, they were extremely lucky, and of course we weren't. Darmian shattered the post, Belotti and Parolo should have scored.
However, having said that, Fuck you Italy and your old ways. We have zero chance of winning, will probably need to score three goals and we didn't eve get one tonight. This team is screaming for a 433, bernardeschi, Insigne, Jorgighno, Zappacosta and company are too good to sit on the bench. As italians we will learn the hard way, I just hope we don't become the new Holland.

This is what happens when you don't call Balotelli. Conte is the next italy coach 100%

Another typical Twat comment. Stick to your surrogate country of Brazil.

Oh look it's the resident footyroom mentally challenged, racist, right wing nationalist, AC Milan expert. Thank you for another flawless analytical blurb that could of only come from your truly elite mind. Where would we all be if it wasn't for your steadfast and irreplaceable demeanor? Truly we are all pawns on your chess board of an internet life. Thank you so much for your opinion. Everybody! Quickly! Thumbs up his comment and tell him how smart and special he is. He really does need the reinforcement. He's very very special.

People may not agree but I think, what is needed in the team up front is.... Ballatoli.
His sting is missing for Italy.

don't worry bro, Italy is living the same things France lives at the begining of the century. Hard to say goodbye to a golden generation. Hope calcio's teams will have a reflexion about giving more time to young italians players. Trust me France had the same problem, and when youngest stars were more in lights in ligue 1(then majors europeans teams) things started to be better for the national team.

Ya but Serie A is all politics, the league is slowly coming back, but its hard for itlalians to play unless they are 33 years old. All teams go hunting for cheap players in south America rather than developing their own.
But I also find it stupid as hell that Uefa and Fifa put Spain in the same group as us and then Serbia, Ireland and a few other groups don't have notab;e teams in them. Again, its all politics.

Italy sucks as always because they do not support the national Italian team with Young players like Sansone , Giabbiadini , ZAZA , Sharawy , Balotelli , bonnaventura , zappacosta , Obgonna , Romangiolli and the others

I expected that before the loss of Italy & Italian team will not Qualify to Russia World Cup 2018 because Ventura is the worst coach in all italian history .... Respect for Sweden they deserved World Cup Qualifaction .. Swedish team won french team before .... Congratulations for Sweden

You guys already are in the tournament. Italy can't score more than two goals in a game against Malta, let alone Sweden. Congrats mate. But I'm bitter as hell we won't be there cuz of having Spain in our group.

Great work Sweden. A bit of luck with their goal but really who cares about that as long as its in the back of the net, everything else is neutralized. Im sooo fu*cking hyped up by the thought of Italians not being able to make it to Russia next year!!! YES!!!

was never happy when Ventura was assigned as Italy coach. Now I'm 100% convinced that Ventura needs to go even if we happen to qualify for World Cup in 2018. He adds nothing to the team. He can't motivate the players to play like Conte did. Tactically inferior to other coaches. He has many talented young and experienced players and can't get a great combination out of it. I'm very worried about Italy's chances of qualifying.

Buffon is old, Bonucci is slow, Chiellini is outdated, and Barzagli is non-existent. Why do you love them so much?

Well, it is my personal opinion... I just have a soft spot for Italian defenders and their philosophy/style.

Buffon might be old but he is still a class keeper. Chiellini isn't outdated as him and Bonucci were the best defenders in the world last season. Barzagli is getting on abit I agree and Bonucci is a great defender, you don't need to be quick to be a good defender, as a footie fan you should know this.

What an irony for the Italian football! It took them exactly a decade since 2006 when they become the world champions, to create a generation of top players, who are playing at the highest level in their clubs, only to place an average coach (at best), who completely lost himself with these footballers, and transferred that confusion to the squad, and now they're on the edge of falling down the abyss! 'Cause that's what missing the World Cup would be for Italy!
Pathetic performance! A totally futile domination, no ideas for creating a real chance, let alone a stroke of genius to change the tie! I can see them playing like this in San Siro too. Although the quality of the Sweden squad is lower, still, they are very disciplined, now exactly what they want and how to do it. So...

Return match on Monday is poised to be a cracker. Good result for Sweden this. Really forces Italy to keep a clean sheet at home or score a lot of goals.
