So torn. I love our Greek and Croatian brothers. I love both nations! I wish it could've been possible for both to have qualified! Lots of love to Hellas, my friend!
What do you classify by big players? If you have whole 11 playing in top European leagues and players in all CL semi finalists, then it is really not average national team. Mexico doesn't have such players but it's still not average team.

Only 2 stars played, Modric and Perisic. I think it's pretty simple to understand that Croatia doesn't have many super star players, Mandzukic didn't play but he can be among the other 2 so best case scenario is 3 super star players. That is not at the level of France,Germany and so on and so on...
You don't define national team only by names, you need 11+ players for that, because Croatia has at same time one of best midfields in Europe and also well-covered in every other position except possibly left back.
Rakitic had one average season, you can't drop him for that.
Kalinic over Brozovic, Brozovic is much more inconsistent while Kalinic is also a better player. Vrsaljko and Rog need more playtime, overall they are good but Vrsaljko got messed up by injuries, Rog didn't get much playtime because Sarri is stubborn with him and there are a lot of options in Napoli's midfield, sadly he came in same time Zielinski did.
Lovren is really bad tbh and it is sad because he was great potential in Dinamo and solid in both Lyon and Southampthon.
Yes. YES. It feels so good when you have a quality coach in national team. Rakitic was great today (he was shit during Cacic's time), Modric was as usual MOTM, Kalinic FANTASTIC, Vrsaljko and Strinic with great game... defense was a bit shaky because Lovren is decreasing rapidly, Vida saved us once. We really need fit Corluka because he is our best defender with Vida.
the manager was not a good one while mexico had same the manager throughout btw the latest match was a win for croatia 2-1 in Mexico, watch us tear Mexico apart if we meet in the Wcup.
Niko Kovac is a good coach @Mauricio, just didn't have enough experience for World Cup. Also, Mexico lost 2-1 against our league's B team few months ago... so yeah. I don't really think Mexico is better by margin that it was in 2014, I don't think they are better atm.
Although we do have problems with South American teams.

Also if you have players consistently starting and performing for Inter, Real, Barcelona and etc you do have good amount of stars in your team.
Mandukic, Brozovic, Kramaric = Great
Kalinic, Vrsaljko, Rog, Pjace (injured) = good/inconsistent
Lovren = Terrible!!!!!

Congratulations to Croatia. I'm really happy the balkans will be well represented in the world cup
@Emrecan_58 yeah but i think Croatia is doing everyone a favor here. No one likes to watch us play. It's really time we make some drastic changes.
