Astra's owner is in prison due to ilegally financing a political campaign. Head coach Marius Sumudica is banned from staying on the bench in the romanian league due to a bet scandal. They lost a lot of players recently because of financial issues. Just a week before this match they sold their best players Boldrin and De Amorim to rivals Steaua Bucharest in order to pay staff and player bills.
