This was a "6 point game"... So a win for Japan was absolutely necessary to not have an almost too big gap to KSA, and they did what they had to do. This group is like a group of death now with 4 teams withing one point! Saudi Arabia have done better than expected and this won't be a walk in the park for neither Australia nor Japan. Even UAE have done good. Very intresting group to watch actually.

Indeed it is an interesting group. I think if all teams keep this pace, I am guessing KSA and Japan will qualify for 1st and 2nd and UAE for third!

@Firasb,
Saudi needed to fight and they are a good team. They were on top of the table before that game. Hopefully Saudi qualifies to the WC this time.

Saudi Arabia has so many talents but when they play as a team there's no chemistry

Who the hell thinks Japan won by luck? Obviously Japan was far much better than Saudi Arabia. I really can't believe those comments who say this much was unfair..

So unfair. Saudi played well and we deserved a point at least but the referee decided to kill the game. He gave a free penalty. Refs are always scared of big teams in Asia.
I had so much respect for Japanese football but after I saw today, I lost it. Wasting time and diving a lot.
Proud of Saudi! They played well against a team made of 15 professional players who play in Europe.
Can't wait for the return game.

Well done Japan. You deserved this victory. A team made up of real professional players like Honda of Ac Milan , Kagawa of Dortmund, Okazaki of Leicester. That is what the whole world wants to see in Russia in 2018. Unfair ? What about the game against Thailand ? Was it a soft penalty they got ???

@AbdulRahimBS. Big difference between soft (which I think it was not) and unfair. Use your brain.

@AbdulrahimBS & Memo_Iraqy,

You cant tackle a player in the box. I know you are burning but even an Iraqi retired referee said both penalties were correct. Plus there was a red card not shown for the RB or the RW. Against Thailand, there were 3 penalties and only one given! You still talk about fairness?
If you wanna see a WC with professional players then good luck because not all players play abroad and I can give many examples starting with your "country".

I came back just to show you that our promise is achieved! We beat them at home game.... It was that easy.
