Firstly, excuse our friend Abva1968, as you know Peruvians wear their heart on their sleeves as they rightly should with our circumstances.
Rodriguez being "terrible" is much different than him "being the worst defender in all of South America". Which is also wrong.
How am I supposed to infer you're Peruvian? Aside from the wholehearted negativity, there was no indication to me that you are Peruvian. And it's true, the team from the 70's are impossible to overcome especially with the weak structure of our local tournament. But at this moment, we have a team that is slowly reflecting our personality and constantly growing. Unfortunately for you, there's no room for negativity or reminiscing. But at least you still watch the games.
Peru outplayed Bolivia, but Bolivia still should have drawn this game late. Instead, they missed an absolute sitter. Rodriguez (from Peru) remains the worst defender in all of South America. To make his intolerable defending worse, he's always the first to throw up his arms as in WTF, when he's almost always the reason for the f-up. This was a must win for Peru, but they will not make the WC. They assured themselves of that when they managed only two draws against Venezuela. Those should have been wins and they should be sitting nicely in third place in the qualifiers. Instead, they'll get beat by Ecuador and Argentina -- and they'll never get this close to the WC again for another 12 years.

Rodriguez is by far Peru's best defender in the past 20 years. Although he sometimes commits errors, he's indispensable for the back four. Also, he was probably in contention for man of the match the previous 2 games.
We're definitely not assured of a position, but we're fighting every day. The beautiful thing about football, my friend, is that it is always unpredictable. We'll fight until the end...Thanks for watching though!
Rodriquez is terrible. Peru has to travel to Ecuador for their next game, then play Argentina and then Colombia. All three of those games should be losses. Peru is notoriously bad on the road in South American qualifiers.
Why are you thanking me for watching? I'm Peruvian. I just happen to live in the United States now. It's odd to be thanked for watching my Peru play. Then, again, I grew up during an era when Peruvian soccer was something you were proud of because they were great -- Cubillas, Cueto, Oblitas, Chumpitas. Our culture at the time produced great soccer players and good teams. The Peruvian culture today produces garbage teams. But at least you still watch the games.

@Braininahat that's the same thing people said before they went to play against Paraguay :p and then everyone wanted to hop on the celebration bus. I'd rather be optimistic and enjoy these last 3 rounds than be a debbie downer and say it's over for us :)

Also, we play a reduced Ecuador that I coincide will be tough to play in Quito. Argentina is going through a notoriously poor moment right now, with a team that is much more individualistic than cohesive. Colombia can assuredly be beaten at home, as Venezuela almost did.
@braininahat,this may be unusual coming from an european, but I would love to see Peru qualified to the world cup, along with Paraguay,I really like these 2 national teams. As a romanian,I gotta say I know how you guys feel having once a golden generation,we had ours as well, and same as you our current generation is really awful, the worst from our history.Good luck to Peru
Wish you would say something now. Don't ever watch this specific team again. IF you even dare to celebrate, you should be ashamed of yourself. And Rodriguez was impeccable yesterday. Hope you watched.
