Amazing job by Iceland to win a tough group like this. They have one foot in Russia, considering there's little to no chance they flunk it against Kosovo at home.
I feel your pain, I'm done with supporting Italy, unless they miraculously get their heads out of their asses. Was hoping Turkey and Ukraine would finish top.
I have no pain to be honest. I even celebrated Iceland goals. Was never a National team fanatic, just wanted the Beşiktaş players in Turkey to participate and the Turkish youngsters to have some time in International competitions that's all.
And about Italy, I am also curious how they perform this awful. The team has quality. Still has a big chance to be in World Cup, it's not over yet.
Ukraine can still finish 2nd.
I understand your point and its a valid one, but I say this with complete respect to other teams such as Romania and Turkey, but this is Italy, we should qualify comfortably or atleast play well.
Our most potent goal threat is Chiellini who a center back and 33 years old. Absolutely disappointed throughout this qualifying campaign.
But I still do wonder how UEFA put Spain and Italy in the same group but put Turkey, Iceland, Ukraine and Croatia in one group, they all cancle each other out for top spot. same to be said for the for group E with Poland, Denmark and Romania. and group D with austria, Wales, Ireland and Serbia. Again, I'm not saying these teams are bad cuz they ar not, but how do you get Spain and italy in the same group.
@Romanian_CDM I know mate. But believe me if I was born in Romania I would say the same and support Romania even though they won't participate in world cups. It's just hard to support Turkey with al the political situations going on in national team or the country.
@Cuore_Granata It's UEFA man. What can you expect :D
Support and devotion are two different things. I supported Turkey, but not as a fanatic, just as a fan like people support Bayern Munich or Barcelona from China, not with emotions. But I dedicate my life to Beşiktaş. Two different things.
To be fair, its normal to support the nation you were born in but its hard to blame anyone for not supporting them with a passion or if they end up giving up on them after a while. Trust me mates, I know what I'm talking about, I'm canadian. :(
I don't want to disrespect your choices but I think this is silly. You can't support your national team like a club. The national team is different. Everyone is looking the game. At bars or friends place. Everyone is watching. Even people who doesn't care about the sport. It's about getting together to celebrate your country. You shouldn't be reacting like this. You can't stop supporting your country. One day you'll have a great national team again.
Yes even in Turkey. Do you remember when they went all the way to the semifinals in world cup? Or played very well in the euros? Turkey just needs to rebuild. For gods sake look at Syria... their country is teared apart in all kind of ways and still has a chance and their ppl cheers (for once). Turkey WILL sooner or later get good results, they have all the possibilities to be good.
I understand your point and I agree. But I don't know man, I just don't feel good with supporting the same country with the ones who booed the minute of silence for the Paris attack victims and chanted Allahu Aqbar Or the ones(same ppl) who called my friend terrorist after they murdered her. It was in 2008 when Turkey got to the Semi-Finals and things weren't this fucked up in the country.
like I stated earlier, some national teams are held to different standards, Italy is not Germany, France or Spain but we are supposed to be better than most teams.
Would you support your government if they were corrupt or not doing their jobs correctly? Thats how italy is now, so no, I won't support them until they turn it around.
This was my last game supporting Turkey. Will no longer be a supporter of this national team.
Always Beşiktaş, only BEŞİKTAŞ.
All the best Iceland <3

We haven't gone to the WC in 20 year and I still support my country's team even though they're absolute frauds lol
