It's called the Monaco effect. Valdes narrowly avoided it but is feeling the same effects.

Monaco effect? lol what do you mean? that didn't happen to James Rodriguez.

Yeah, the monaco effect?! Falcao was scoring like mad there.

When James moved to Monaco from Porto he was still developing. Martial was still developing, same with Ferreira-Carrasco and co. Falcao just game on the back of three solid seasons in the La Liga where he was scoring for fun every single game. He was at the peak of his career. To go from that to scoring every few games with lower quality players weakened his game. When he was at Atleti, I was one of his biggest fans. All this happened because of the money Monaco offered him. Could've gone to Chelsea then, Real, Barca, City, PSG...... and I'm sure that if he had gone to any of those clubs, he'll still be scoring for fun.

I agree Monaco killed Falcaos career because he had many other options like Chelsea,City etc. Similar to when Anzhi bought Eto'o from us a couple years back because Eto'o and Falcao left for the money.James also left for the Money from Monaco, but look at him now! Falcaos still played well at Monaco but Monaco wasn't doing anything in the Champions League so going to Monaco was pointless for Falcao. Falcao was always running away from the CL, me and my friend were always joking about it.

A lot of strikers hit there prime around 27-30 but Falcao's performances dropped for the nation team as well, hes past his prime for sure, He should have proved himself on the big stage earlier in his career. Too old and slow for premier league now, also it takes time adjusting to a new league. Man U killed his career.Monaco was a peddle stone for James to do well though and the World cup performances is why he moved to Madrid.
