Let's be honest here. I don't want to hate on Everton, really, but Lukaku deserves a better club.

Shearer & Wright on MOTD argue that Shaqiri's second goal was an intended cross. Absolute Bollocks. There's no one in the box. As a United fan I can assure you that if Rooney had scored a similar goal, everyone would be sucking his dick right now for scoring a world class goal. But because it was scored by a Stoke player, pundits will claim that it was a fluke. Shame on them.
All I can say is well played Shaqiri & well played Stoke.

edmund khoo thinks money should buy trophies and the concept is wrong

Edmund Khoo 11 years ago

Man United & Chelsea are by far the exceptions. They have spent obscene amounts of cash to buy success, but the owners weren't prepared for internal subversion by the players.

busyourass 11 years ago

not man utd though, louis van gaal's slow moving tactic is to blame while chelsea's squad lacks motivation

so united didnt spend over 250 million pounds ? lol ok

Mark Clattenburg must NEVER be permitted to referee another game involving Everton again in his lifetime. Clattenburg loves awarding red cards & penalty-kicks against the Toffees. He must be the Chairman of the Liverpool Supporters' Club.

Fantastic game from both teams. Shame one had to lose. But Stoke probably deserved it just slightly, because they played great away from home.

Mark Hughes has spent wisely on peripheral members of prominent clubs, unlike the managers of some wealthy clubs like Man United, Man City, Chelsea & Arsenal who splurge on overrated stars.

busyourass 11 years ago

what overrated? good player is just good. luckily you are not the database editor of fifa 16. if so, everybody will turn to PES. complete nonsense

Wenger splurging on overrated stars?! You gotta send me a sample of the stuff you're on.

Everton doesn't have the budget to compete with the big clubs. The likes of Deulofeu, Barkley, Stones and Lukaku will be tempted away soon unless Bill Kenwright sells the club to someone who can finance it to compete for trophies.

Visca 11 years ago

This is bullshit, how about Leicester City? They don't fucking have a financial power to compete as well, but they did fucking well!

Deulofeu only joined the club this summer, Barkley came through the youth system and Lukaku cost nearly £30million. The issue at Everton is clearly the manager. Martinez is a romantic, who is hopelessly out of his depth. With the quality at his disposal, Everton should definitely be doing better than the likes of stoke, watford, palace, west ham and leicester, but they aren't. Tactically, he is inept. The reason his first season went well was because Moyes left a good structure in place. Last season, they were hopeless and again this season the players are set up wrong, with very little idea as to how to defend. He took Wigan down, and Everton look like they'll spend a second season in the bottom half of the table despite boasting some top players. Kenwright has done wonders there!

Despite Everton and Stoke being good, Lukaku, Barkley, Arnautovic and Shaqiri deserve top clubs...
