As Xavi said, if Rooney wants to continue he should drop into a playmaking roll. If it was him who gave the pass to Martial instead of the other way around, I think we'd be talking about how clinical a finisher Martial is.

Really Rooney is not the problem....Looking at Van Gaal's style, there is no attack..so i don't see y blame Rooney....since Van Gaal took over, Rooney has been outa form.

Man United's transfer spending under Louis Van Gaal has almost reached a quarter of a billion pounds, but not only is the team inconsistent, they are playing an unacceptable brand of boring and cautious football that the fans cannot accept. Van Gaal has no excuses for not winning trophies in style with such a huge squad of world class players. The Dutchman has been given the war chest to spend as if there is no tomorrow, to strengthen an already established side. Roman Abramovich and Sheikh Mansour transformed Chelsea and Man City respectively from third rate clubs into Premier League champions by splashing the cash. The overrated and over-hyped Van Gaal only needed to strengthen an already fairly settled squad, but he has marginally improved his team.

Rooney shouldn't be playing as a lone striker anymore, he needs to play in support of Martial (who shouldn't be on the right or left flank)

FFS three in a row without scoring. At least we're not conceding! lmao

No idea what type of football United are playing. Passing sideways, each player taking their own time on the ball. If we're playing possession football just look at Barcelona/Bayern/Arsenal as example, most of the time their players don't touch the ball more than two-three times before passing. Pass-and-move, repeat. United players just hold the ball and the rest just stand still waiting for the ball!

All players can be in good form if Diego Simeone or Ryan Giggs takes over Manchester united team and that old fellow Van Gaal take rest from managing the team forever. The tempo is too slow for a team like Manchester united. Moyes was better than van gaal

Parking bus with a goal is better than playing beautifull possession for nothing, kind person like you should play football without goalpost, and team thats has more possession and play beutifull win. ;D

Man United will live under the shadow of Man City just as Arsenal is living under the shadow of Chelsea after the take over of Abramovich.

at the moment it seems like that, but united do have the money, and with a better manager we'll be the best again. It's just a matter of time till the "sheks of UAE' lose their interest in mancity.

Arsenal under Chelsea? Is that why Chelsea is 15th while Arsenal is joint top of the table? Only reason why arsena struggled last ten years is Coz of the debt from the new stadium

too many touches from one player, lack of movement, too defensive. It's like we want to keep the ball, take it home and fcuk with it. Scholes said it, this is a boring team, no positive thing of whatsoever. All I can do is being supportive and wait till LVG left. He won't do any good. He got his chance to do any experiment last season, this season is time to prove it. Keep playing like this? Yea, be a mid-table team.
