Wtf Martin Atkinson this is ridiculous, I feel so bad for Matic. The best thing now is for the FA to reverse the red card and give Barnes the retard the red.

Atkinson and English FA are bunch of disgrace. We all saw what happened on TV.. Its a shame on English FA; sentiment apart. Shame on Atkinson for the blunder and poor officiating, i think he should apologize to Chelsea, Matic and Mourinho. #bullsh*t

Gab 12 years ago

HAHAHA wtf this game was a disgrace, ref should be sacked ASAP, how blind could you be!

abraa 12 years ago

actually, if you look closely, barnes was passing the ball when matic ran into the path of his leg.. it's not really a tackle as some said but yeaa it should be at least a yellow if not a red. That said, the reaction will definitely force the ref to give matic a red card :( on a side note, the handball is fairly obvious

KJ 12 years ago

bullshit.. then how bout his flying kick to ivanovic hip..? where ivanovic scream until the whole stadium can hear it?? yellow or red?? matic is right to red carded bcoz he loss his temper ..( i would also do the same if someone tackle which could broke my leg..) barnes should be red carded too for play rough..

abraa 12 years ago

KJ i was only referring to the Matic incident and the handball incident, I didn't make any reference to any other incidents in my comments. I was merely suggesting that perhaps its not a tackle but a pass if you look at the replay closely and Matic happens to stretch his leg into the path. Of course, I did not say his reaction is not understandable, nor did I deny any other points you said. I was just stating my point of view regarding that specific highlight (incident). Seriously, chelsea fans sure loves to divert attention to other incident don't they? Just like their manager.

Yoyo 12 years ago

Both players are to blame. However matic was an idiot to react like that. Barnes would have probably been given a red if it wasn't for matic to steal the show. Too many chelsea fans on here down voting anything they don't want to agree with.

Hari 12 years ago

Indeed. The intention or pass from Barnes was still biased, but it is very dangerous for Matic's career. Barnes should be sent off, but if Matic didn't react too much maybe he's not the one to leave the pitch

Come on someone please ban that referee from football. Its a disaster to football ....

That kind of tackle could end of matic career. He has right to get mad about that...Poor judgement bt reff...

Mourinho does have a point ranting on goals on sunday. his complaints were completely logical. Barnes should have been sent off in the first half kicking ivanovic midair. Next, we deserved a penalty. ivanovic's shot went into kightly's arm and to be quite frank, the ref should have seen that 3 metres away. After that incident, costa was pushed down by shackell and yet againm no penalty. Next, matic was right to be furious about that tackle. He might have overreacted but barnes nearly ended his career. Ive read the comments above and dear butthurt people, stop complaining. We clearly deserved all three points and burnley were lucky

Stupid matic he got up straight away after Barnes stepped on him. Dive

jchad 12 years ago

@Kompany So after costa's "stamp", Can seemed to be fine........... so why ban costa, but not take even a small action on barnes? N I hop you take that tackle n break ur leg so you would know if it was a dive DUMBASS

Kompany 12 years ago

Manchester City, Belgium 1 114

Costa has been stamping on people the whole season. Whilst Barnes accidentally trod on matics leg when trying to get the ball. The difference with Barnes and Costa is that Barnes did it accidentally which Costa does it on purpose.

YNWA 12 years ago

@KompanyHow can you say that Costa stamped Can on purpose when he wasn't even looking at him?And Barnes is clearly looking at Matic when he stamps his leg and you say that it's accidental?

Barnes should have been shown the red card. That foul on Matic could have finished him. I can understand Matic frustration there and not only that, I saw the replay how Matic leg or legs were bent while the bad challenge was made. Of course I think it is intentional, that was the same thing that happened to Cech that made him wear headgear, Cudicini was knocked unconscious, Terry was unconscious, Drogba was in pain, Shevchenko and Torres had very difficult times in Chelsea especially Shevchenko and now people are against Costa because of his temper and ruled him out for 3 games and now he came back, he has not scored a goal yet,NOW in this game, the referees are going against Chelsea so that they go down. I sense people are jealous of Chelsea

Matic dived when Barnes stepped on his shin. If matic was genuinely hurt, he would've been on the floor in pain, but he faked and instantly got up after holding his leg. Wtf is this crap.

Some people's brains don't process pain when they lose their temper. Some soldiers take a bullet in the leg but they still stand up to fight, they have hard bodies and they train everyday. Football players train everyday too, their bodies are different from people who stay on their computer long enough until their brains stop processing any good thoughts and come up with dumb crap like this.

Jay 12 years ago

How can it be a red card fr Barnes? He was kicking the ball and Matic interceded? His intention was not to make a tackle but to pass, he did have posession of the ball...it was Matic own fault he got fouled in the first place

Kz 12 years ago

He tried to pass the ball but then pushed his leg through, dangerous play which could inflict a serious injury on your opponent. Matic shouldn't have reacted the way he did, so his red card seems logical but if the referee does his job, he would have given a foul and a red card for Barnes.

You sir are a complete fucking idiot who doesn't know shit about football. The tackle barnes made was intentional, and he walked away as if nothing happened so he could avoid the foul, which worked. These tactics have been used for years in clubs like Burnley; injure the fuck out of the opposition and you'll get them scared.

anti-troll 12 years ago

fucking jay the gay, eat a dick fucking fag

bluehero10 12 years ago

ou dont leave you foot up that high studs out after making a ground pass. I repeat, GROUND PASS, the ball was on the ground!

Anto 12 years ago

total red card for barnes. Ref should have whistled early enough to stop matic. For those who say it wasn't a tackle and that barnes was going for the ball.. I don't see how one would want to STAMP on the ball

NABIL 12 years ago

if the ivanovic penalty cry was given, then felipe luis' handball in the box would have been given as well; at least he was consistent. If Costa had not gone to ground so easily, a penalty may have been given if he attempted to shoot or something.

DANIELKLACKO 12 years ago

How you can compare this (Luis and Burnley hand), you are blind, poor man!

This is despicable referee. Not that I care about Chelsea but I saw the highlights and tackles like Burnley's is just disgusting and shameful. Chelsea, especially Matic has every right to be furious with a tackle like that :/
